Marriott: Shadow Ridge, Timber Lodge & Waiohai
Westin: Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Villas
Disney: Beach Club Villas & Bay Lake Towers
We had a 1 bedroom #3307
Here are some things I observed. It is a beautiful resort:
Kitchen - the corner cabinet in corner was non-functional and was damaging the adjoining cabinet because it didn't close properly.
No oven and the convection oven was difficult to use. It required too much trial and error to get it right and a vacation is not a time to trying and figure this out. My convection oven/microwave combo at home operates like a regular oven.. You put in the oven temp you want and cook it. At WPORV you choose the type of food you were cooking like baking cookies, brownies, etc and then, you put in quantity. YOu had no control over temperature or duration.
The garbage can did not fit under sink. A huge design flaw in my book
The island was nice in the kitchen but it reduced the amount of counter space. Small kitchen.
Dishwasher soap. They did not give extra packets at all. We got 2 and that was it for the week. They did not replenish at Tidy service either. This really made no sense to me. Who is really gonna go out and buy a box of dishwasher soap for a week stay. I'd think they'd want the guest to wash the dishes.
Bedroom - 1 king bed & 2 night stands. Very small not enough walking space around room.
Closet very small didn't fit our suitcases which cause the walking space around the room to be small.
Bathroom-- liked the drawers in the vanity (these are missing at WKORV)
Balcony -- another thing I don't understand 2 chairs and small table for a room that sleeps 4. You cannot hang out on the deck with everyone.
Maintenance issues: We had 6 problems with our room. 5 got fixed. We didn't tell them about the 6th one as we didn't figure out until the last day our phone in the kitchen did not work.
Laundry/hallway space --- Okay I've come to love the wasted hallway at WKORV. There was no space to store your snorkel gear, boogie boards, chairs, pool toys, cooler, etc... without walking over them and tripping..
Maid -- our refrigerator was not that clean nor were the counter tops.
No recycling in building. You had to walk all the way to the lobby to recycle.
Resort--- no chair hogs. Very nice but it wasn't full. 4 pools all heated. 3 or 4 hot tubs... 2 bar areas outside... towel hut... nice staff... bar food pretty good... Dinner menu at restaurant a bit pricey... We did two resort activities-- made bracletts & surf lessons in the pool... Not too many kids... Lots of open green area to run around in... Shuttle to Princeville hotel (we did not use) as you can park your car in their parking lot with your parking pass... No tennis courts...No sunrises or sunsets.... Limited beach access here... Snorkel season at the beaches is limited to May through October at best...Lots of BBQs but the grills were missing most of the time and they did not provide scrappers to clean the grills inbetween grillings... Some rooms will have parking lot views (right now some are being used for sales offices)...
We loved the resort but because of the beach situation we'd only visit between May and October. It was very quiet the week we went and very few kids which was nice compared to WKORV crowds. You could always find a lounge chair even under an umbrella. Lots of BBQs, I think they had 20 or so...
I have some pictures up... I need to add more but it is a start:
