We had a 1 bedroom #3307

Here are some things I observed. It is a beautiful resort:

Kitchen - the corner cabinet in corner was non-functional and was damaging the adjoining cabinet because it didn't close properly.

No oven and the convection oven was difficult to use. It required too much trial and error to get it right and a vacation is not a time to trying and figure this out. My convection oven/microwave combo at home operates like a regular oven.. You put in the oven temp you want and cook it. At WPORV you choose the type of food you were cooking like baking cookies, brownies, etc and then, you put in quantity. YOu had no control over temperature or duration.

The garbage can did not fit under sink. A huge design flaw in my book

The island was nice in the kitchen but it reduced the amount of counter space. Small kitchen.

Dishwasher soap. They did not give extra packets at all. We got 2 and that was it for the week. They did not replenish at Tidy service either. This really made no sense to me. Who is really gonna go out and buy a box of dishwasher soap for a week stay. I'd think they'd want the guest to wash the dishes.

Bedroom - 1 king bed & 2 night stands. Very small not enough walking space around room.

Closet very small didn't fit our suitcases which cause the walking space around the room to be small.

Bathroom-- liked the drawers in the vanity (these are missing at WKORV)

Balcony -- another thing I don't understand 2 chairs and small table for a room that sleeps 4. You cannot hang out on the deck with everyone.

Maintenance issues: We had 6 problems with our room. 5 got fixed. We didn't tell them about the 6th one as we didn't figure out until the last day our phone in the kitchen did not work.

Laundry/hallway space --- Okay I've come to love the wasted hallway at WKORV. There was no space to store your snorkel gear, boogie boards, chairs, pool toys, cooler, etc... without walking over them and tripping..

Maid -- our refrigerator was not that clean nor were the counter tops.

No recycling in building. You had to walk all the way to the lobby to recycle.

Resort--- no chair hogs. Very nice but it wasn't full. 4 pools all heated. 3 or 4 hot tubs... 2 bar areas outside... towel hut... nice staff... bar food pretty good... Dinner menu at restaurant a bit pricey... We did two resort activities-- made bracletts & surf lessons in the pool... Not too many kids... Lots of open green area to run around in... Shuttle to Princeville hotel (we did not use) as you can park your car in their parking lot with your parking pass... No tennis courts...No sunrises or sunsets.... Limited beach access here... Snorkel season at the beaches is limited to May through October at best...Lots of BBQs but the grills were missing most of the time and they did not provide scrappers to clean the grills inbetween grillings... Some rooms will have parking lot views (right now some are being used for sales offices)...

We loved the resort but because of the beach situation we'd only visit between May and October. It was very quiet the week we went and very few kids which was nice compared to WKORV crowds. You could always find a lounge chair even under an umbrella. Lots of BBQs, I think they had 20 or so...

I have some pictures up... I need to add more but it is a start:

Great pics! Thanks, Cisco. Now we will have a great trip IF I remember to bring along some dishwasher soap.:D

Wow, great slideshow. You are even more detailed than I am about taking photos of the units (opening all the kitchen drawers :D .

We're going next year, will be in a studio unit. Which buildings have that terrible PLV (parking lot view)??? I want to avoid that!

Thanks for the great review and photos.

Excellent - thank you.

As to supplying things like soap (washer/dishwasher) - having Owners requesting these of the HOA has been effective in getting these fully supplied for the week.

Can the pictures be viewed as a slide show? I'm not seeing a button for slide show.

Go to Full album - and slideshow control button shows up.

It should be in the box to the right but I don't know if you see the same things I see when I click the link. It would be the last choice in the first column in the big box.

I'm not an owner but aren't you!!! I definitely think they should supply enough for the week. They do the same thing at WKORV and I just don't get it but I never thought about contacting the HOA. I will do that for WKORV.

The photos do not give the impression that the bedroom or the kitchen is very small. The grounds look fantastic, great grill area.Great pics.

The one bedroom at WKORV is 900 square feet while at WPORV it is 767 square feet. I use to think the extra square footage was in the foyer but it is not. The Master bedroom does not have a chair in the room so you lose a lot of walking space. The living room does not have a chair facing the tv. So, the living room really only seats 3 on the couch. The living room at WPORV does not have sliders going out to the lanai it is a single door and it obvious that was necessary to allow all the furniture to fit. BTW... the couch was very comfortable. Anyways... the chair in the living room you have to move in order for the person sitting in it to see the TV. The bathroom at WKORV is much bigger as it includes the closet where at WPORV the closet is in the master and it makes the bedroom even smaller. The kitchen was small. YOu could not have two people in it. Plus, since the garbage can did not fit under the sink you had to walk around it alot. Trust me it is smaller than WKORV and tight fit for 4 people. 2 would be fine but I wouldn't do 4 adults in a one bedroom. Remember I'm the luggage queen of the board and we could only get one suitcase in that closet. Just my 2 cents.

Here is the WPORV map showing bldg. numbers and parking lot locations.

So it looks like B, C, G and F are good. Avoid A and E? H seems to only be the office/restaurant. Are there condos in that building too? Also looks like D may only face out and not inwards to the parking lot, is that right? I can't tell from the map where the ocean is located. Or the trail to the beach. We walked this trail several years ago (at least I think it was the same trail). In those days we walked to the end of the road past KEK and a private condo complex and took a densely wooded trail down.

Yes... when I walked out over by building D which equals building 4 on my map that I got at check-in, it does face out and not towards the parking. Over there is a parking structure as well.

Also, B has a couple of end units that did face the parking lot a little bit. This was labelled as building 2 on my map.

Building H does not have any units which does not have a building number on my map.

Yes.. the parking lot for Wyliie beach is right at the entrance of Westin. It is at the end of the road and then, to get to the Westin you make a left into the resort. The trail is densely wooded and according to my Kauai reveal book it is 20 stories down. We met a person on the trail who had a friend break his leg on the trail.

Maybe I should scan my map in for DeniseM as mine has building numbers which correspond to the numbers on the buildings.

Wow, I'm impressed -- you are observant! I also loved the resort, but after being at WKORV-N the week prior, the difference in size was quite noticeable. I had to use the bathroom drawers for the kids' clothes because of the limited space in the bedroom.

CG - I will contact the HOA about issues described here (soaps / supplies / garbage can, etc.) - other WPORV Owners should also.

When reserving WPORV via SVN - do they go by the building letters or numbers for location requests?

I am still glad I bought our EOYo from SVO since we got a pretty good deal, but unlikely we would ever buy the other EOYe. We can't wait to get to the resort but it will be a year from now. Also, glad we picked up another WKV Plat/Prem (81K SOs) for exchanging purposes into WKORV/N ,WPORV, WLR or HRA.

I believe the beach trail is marked on the WPORV map is the one marked Beach Access Path (on the left side of the map).

Also - regarding where the ocean is, on the TUG map it is at the bottom of the map and is represented by some wiggly gray lines.

You know I don't know as I didn't request a view. We weren't able to check in until Monday when our check-in day was Sunday. So, I figured I'll be happy to get a room. I was pleasantly surprised when we got a pretty good view of the ocean and the main pool. Obviously, the best views would be the ocean front rooms on a high floor.

As an owner I'm sure you won't get a parking lot view. Also, some of the parking lot views are sales offices at least on the first floor.

I'll scan the map I got and send it to DeniseM.

That would be great! Please scan it at the highest possible resolution and leave the file full size to send it to me.

The scanned map didn't work out, so I added the Bldg. numbers at the top of the WPORV map in the Owner Resources sticky.
