Surprised there hasn't been a baseball thread on here yet.

Rooting for the Rangers - not a huge baseball fan but I pick it up near the end of the regular season and have been watching pretty faithfully through the playoffs.

And this inquiring mind wants to know - Denise, are you avatar shopping?

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
With the Brewers knocked out by St Louis, I've lost interest other than to say they are interesting TV fodder.

For a few more days, my Giants are still the World Champs! When someone else wins the title, I will go back to my old avatar.

Go Cards! Grew up in St. Louis and even made it to a World Series game a number of years ago. Go Cards!

I was born in St. Louis, grew up in Missouri, and have lived in Texas for almost 15 years now, so I'm torn. I'm rooting for the Rangers, but I wouldn't be disappointed if my "first love" won. They've certainly been playing a better game so far. You never know how it'll turn out, though -- I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rangers finish strong.

It's unbelievable that we're at the end of the baseball season - I hate the long months without games. I can't bring myself to root for any AL team except the RedSox so it's Go Cards! Pujols certainly put on a show last night! :cheer:

I went to my first World Series game Wednesday night. The stadium was electrified with all the excitement and anticipation. Even with the cold weather, the Cards won, so that was great!!!

Go CARDS!!!

I am a die hard Red Sox fan, I'm doing good now just to know it's the Cardinals and the Rangers. Seems like we have lots of Cardinal fans around here, but I have relatives (in laws) in Texas and so find myself rooting for the Rangers (when I remember there is a game). Go Red Sox :)

I used to love the Rangers. Until they paid so much $$$ to ARod and left Pudge out in the cold.

Two seasons in the world series and i still have not climbed back on the fan train.

I am enjoying the series. We saw a Rangers - Mariners game in Seattle in Sept and were impressed with the depth of talent on the Rangers roster. But the Cards are playing with such heart! Both teams are worthy opponents.

Pujols is probably the best player in baseball today and the draw for me to watch.

Wow, gotta give it to the Rangers, they've played the last couple of games very well. They say it's going to be much colder when the Series gets back to St. Louis ... hope it doesn't snow on them! Go Cards! :cheer:

On a related note - have any of you heard all the ridiculousness that went on with the RedSox players, the stuff that contributed to their epic September collapse? Their three top pitchers spent every game, except when they were pitching, in the clubhouse eating Popeye's Fried Chicken and drinking beer. While completely ignoring their conditioning. Grrrrrr. I can't remember ever being this angry with my favorite team.

But .... they sure do make for good Halloween characters. These are two of my nephews at a Halloween party this weekend. (They're both 21, legal age, just in case you're wondering.)

Ever since watching HBO's special on Josh hamilton's life story, i have become a HUGE (Josh hamilton primarily) Texas rangers fan. Their manager Ron washington has also battled addiction and seemingly overcome it so i have to rot for them. Plus I'm a Cubs and Yankees fan so BOO Cardinals!!!:D

Interesting, La Russa is a control freak. Washington gives his players the green light to play the game. Eample is Kinsler's steal of 2nd base in 9th inning. Other examples are Andrus and Hamilton scoring from 2nd base on infield outs multiple times during the season. Most of the time the players decide, not the coaches. Makes it interesting!!

Game Six of the 2011 World Series Postponed

Game Six Rescheduled for Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT)

October 26, 2011 – Game Six of the 2011 World Series between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis has been postponed due to inclement weather and the forecast for rainfall throughout the remainder of the day. Given the desire to play a game of this magnitude without interruption, and an outlook with better conditions over the next two nights, Major League Baseball, along with the Cardinals and the Rangers, determined that making the decision early would be the most prudent course of action to allow fans enough time to plan accordingly.

Game Six of the World Series has been rescheduled for Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT) and will be televised by FOX Sports. Game Seven, if necessary, will be played on Friday at 7:05 p.m. (CT).

I grew up in Pennsylvania; lived in St Louis for 20 years; and moved to Texas in 1983. One of the things I like so much about Texas is the pride Texans (many of whom came from other states) have in their State flag. You couldn't hardly find a TV shot of the crowd at Texas Stadium last night that didn't have a Texas State flag in it.

Holy Crud! What a game!
Will anyone be able to pitch tomorrow?
I was kinda rooting for the Rangers, since my team is AL and all.
FOX has to be really happy with getting a game 7.
Bummer, I probably won't see it as we'll be out taking care of my daughters 4: steer tomorrow nite.

What a game!

No matter who you are rooting for, it was quite a nail-biter. Time to go to bed and see what tomorrow brings.

Go Cards! :cheer:

Last World Series scenario I can remember that approached it for tension and excitement was Games 6 and 7 of the 1991 series between Atlanta and Minnesota. Neither of those had the see-saws of this one, but the games themselves were more played more cleanly and I was equally on the edge of my seat.

This whole wrap up of the season, starting with not one, but two, historic collapses, and continuing into this World Series, may very well stand already as the greatest of all time. If tomorrow's game is another nail-biter, it will pass beyond into whatever the realm is that lies beyond unbelievable.

Very exciting game. Won't be surprised either way at the outcome tomorrow night. All we can hope is that tomorrow's game lives up to the buildup tonight.

I have to agree. In 1991, it was Kirby Puckett that hit the walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 11th in game 6 to force a game 7. Game 7 went 9 in full innings without a run scored. Jack Morris had the 10 inning complete game shutout when the Twins scored to win it in the bottom of the 10th.

Being a Toronto fan the next two years were better IMO:D . Of course, nothing tops Joe Carters walkoff homerun in the 9th to win the world series off of Mitch Williams of the Phillies. What is it with closers in the World Series? Texas's closer has been ineffective in this World Series just as Mitch Williams was in 1993. Every time it has to be a nailbitter for Texas fans.

For me, those pre strike years were the peak of baseball.
