Work for my home is finally being done. We decided to go with tile, American made Daltile, that has a wood look. I have attached what we picked. We did not want to deal with a fiasco like this ever again if the air conditioner leaks again.

In addition, we decided to change the kitchen, family room and third bedroom floors to match the rest of the house that was being done under insurance. Also a stone look tile in the baths. The cost of these additional changes were a lot, but we decided we will be staying in this home for a good length and really hated the white tiled floors. Now was the time to do them as we had to move out and did not want to do that again plus we know the dye lot will match.

Estimated time this job will take is 8 weeks. The floor removal, glue removal, some sheetrock needs to be replaced, all molding, air conditioner and water heater removal to get to the damaged wall, painting of the whole house, etc.

We ended up going to a great hotel 20 minutes aways from our home, where we could take our dog, that reminds me of a quaint Key West timeshare. We have small one bedroom with a kitchen and patio.

Now I only can hope we do not have to evacuate due to Milton as we are only a long block away from the ocean. Only during one hurricane was evacuation mandatory here due to the bridges being closed. We really do not know yet where we will go if we have to evacuate. My house has the toilets removed or we would take the hotel pillows and blankets and sleep on the floor. That still might be the backup plan with a bucket. Tomorrow we will decide.

@Panina , I hope you do not need to vacate your hotel for Hurricane Milton.

I'm doing a renovation on our main bathroom in our condo in January. We currently have a bathtub and want it removed and a shower put in. Our contractor suggested we use 12X24 tile for the walls in the shower and a good floor tile for the shower. Since we will live in this condo for a long time, we want to do it now while I'm still working and do it right, so many choices and its mind boggling.

Good Luck on your renovation.

This morning we were out of the hurricane cone and this evening it was even further north so we won't have to vacate.

I had to decide whether to redo the shower stall. I currently have the old fashioned 6 x6 white tile that is in perfect condition. To redo it will be $10,000 just for the labor. I decided at this point not to do it and see how it looks once the floor tile is changed.
