Today's www.woot.com/ white ASUS eee900a. Linux. Atom processor, 4gb SSHD.

I have the eee700 and love it for travel. fast bootup, built-in Skype and 50 other programs. If you have a pocket or purse that'll hold a trade paperback, it will hold this computer.

700 is too small, requires too much side to side scrolling
900 works much better

True. I bought my 700 when they were first announced- even had to wait for it for months. I DO get a little tired of the side-to-side scrolling and the small, jumpy touchpad, but not enough to spring a couple hundred for a new netbook. The 900 offered today is much more pleasant to use.

Still, I'm glad to have the netbook for travel.

Netbooks are great

Netbooks are a great thing. I bought a Acer Aspire One for under $300 and it is perfect for travel. It has a 160 GB hard drive to download photos from my camera. The Woot eee version only has a 4GB SSD so its fine for surfing and email but not much else. You can upgrade that with an external SSD if you need to but if the base version fits your need, it is a pretty good deal.

Cheers
