Hello Everyone,

This morning I was able to successfully trade internally my Westin Kierland for Atlantis for May 2nd, 2009 at exactly 8 months out. I was on the phone at 8:59AM Eastern. I'm so excited, I never thought this would really happen. Thanks for all of your expert advice on how to make this happen. :cheer:

Sue

Congratulations! You will also be lucky as that time of year with school still in session it won't be as crowded!

Way to go Suzie!!!!

May I also chime in to say that I'm glad that I held out for a Jan '09 trade into WSJ rather than take a fall week. Looks like it's going to be a busy fall for hurricanes!!

Congrats! I'm calling in a few days for the week after you. :)

tomandrobin: I requested a 2 bedroom because I was trading a Gold Season two bedroom unit from Kierland. 81,000 StarOptions.

Ken555: Hope you have good luck too !!

Suzie

Has anyone stayed in the "just regular 1 bedroom" unit at Harborside? Is it large enough for 2 people? After experiencing the size of the Princeville Studio, I'm thinking it can't be any smaller (regardless of the size posted on MSC). I think it's got a smaller bathroom than Princeville so at least may "seem" larger...or is this wishful thinking?

We just got back from staying in a 1 bedroom deluxe (the smaller 1 bedroom). It's plenty big for 2 people (we had 2 adults, 2 children). Request a corner unit--they have balconies and the square footage is slightly larger than non-corner small 1 bedrooms.

I've read Harborside is very strict with their arm bands. What if you have a family of 5 and you're in a 1 Br which only accommodates 4 people. Can you purchase another arm band to have access to all of the pools, etc?

Thanks. Is this for both Phase I & II, or just one of them?

BTW, it seems MSC reports Phase I 1-bed at 505 sq ft while Phase II is at 557 sq ft.

As long as I got a 2-bedroom, I'm happy. We're all family so I guess it really doesn't matter if it's not a lock-off. Oh well !!

The dedicated two bedroom is still nice. They are all located on the corners of the buildings. The higher floors are all suppose to have water views.

tomandrobin: I thought it was you that mentioned that you had to reserve a unit the day after me. You got, good for you. What a wonderful wedding present, do they know how lucky they are? :D

Funny thing is last year they were thinking about going to Hawaii.

They went to Atlantis last year and loved it. So much that after they came back, scratched their plans to Hawaii.

Susie,

Thanks. Called just after 6am Pacific today and reserved 5/6-5/15. Took 25 minutes (and a cell phone disconnect) to get done, since the agent was "positively certain" I could not arrive mid-week...then she put me on hold "to check something" and came back 5 minutes later all apologetic. So, I don't have the earliest timestamp, but I don't care. I normally wouldn't call until hours later, but was able to today because I was in the car being driven home from the airport after a no-sleep almost-full flight from Lihue. One vacation ends, and the next must be planned immediately!

FWIW, I was told that Harborside has "plenty of availability" in both 1 bed unit sizes in early May.

I reserved a small 1 bed, requested Phase I, corner unit, high floor (55,000 SOs for 9 nights). Are the corner units in Phase I the same as Phase II? I don't see a 3 bed in Phase I on MSG, so I'm wondering if it's really the same. Should I call back and request Phase II instead?

And now I'm off to grab an AA award ticket for May!

Ken -- If your options work for the Phase II corner ask for that one. Using the picture on this link
http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showpost.php?p=580987&postcount=1 you want the corners with the little rectangles on the ends. Such as building 4, room 4749, if I'm reading the numbering correctly. There are a few of these in Phase I (like Building 2, 4741), but more in Phase II.

Thanks. I just called and confirmed my preferences. The rep suggested leaving the reservation as is (it's in the Phase I inventory list at the moment) because when they assign units they don't always restrict themselves to that particular inventory list (which I thought interesting). She added a special note that I will accept either phase in order to get a corner unit, etc.

I'm hopeful they'll pay attention, especially since I'm staying longer than a week - and I've heard from them before that guests staying longer than a week will get some preference to room location, preferences, etc (though I have no idea if that's true).

FWIW, I had no difficulty getting American Air award seats on the days as well. This will be the last time I get that for only 30,000 miles (plus $79 taxes/fees) since AA is devaluing the trip for reservations starting next month. Even so, it's not quite as bad as others as it's only increasing to 35,000 miles.
