All my 1099's are in (including the broker's), so I went I went online to do my taxes...
I started with TurboTax & Tax Act free versions, but w/1099-R's, they wanted $40/$30.

I did Credit Karma which was free, but it couldn't handle seller-financed mortgages.
I manually added the interest, but could not report correctly or access Schedule B.
OTOH, it did let me print out completed forms for free, so at least I can see 'em first.

Remarkably, they all had the same results, so at least they agree on my refund.
I'll likely go with Tax Act, as I've used them for the past several years.

Good for you! I know that feeling of relief!

If it weren't for my brokerage statement, which does not come out until mid March, I could probably get mine done by now, especially since we are still in a waiting period for our move. This time I am going to a CPA after we move in March, which is when I would have done ours anyway.

In fact, when I think about it, I could probably do my son's if I had all his documents. But I already told him he will be responsible to get them done now, so I did not ask him to send them to me. In the past I have always waited until February to do his, just in case something else (like another form) shows up. His are easy and free to do, but he has no clue whatsoever so I am not sure what route he will go.

I have always used Tax Act which has actually gotten expensive, as I did not like Turbo Tax as much.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
I almost always have mine ready to file by 2/1. I'm very close . . . looking forward to finalizing and filing them this weekend myself.

We have to get ours done before 4/11. Rick always files right at the last minute, but we go to Europe 4/11.

Mine are done and filed. I used the H&R Block online app.

I have used TurboTax since the late 90s. It has handled a lot of complicated stuff for me. I have been satisfied with it except for one thing. The price keeps going up. I think it is about triple what it was when I started with them... George.

But still less expensive than having a tax preparer do them for you, in Turbo Tax :)

Waiting to get all of our statements to send to our tax preparer. Our taxes should be completed before end of February.

We still don't have all of the information we need. Waiting for the statements from our financial advisors. And then dh puts off gathering some of his info. We'll drop the stuff off to our accountant before we leave for Maui at the end of February.

You can get a 1098 form free on the IRS website which can be used to notify recipient. However their forms are not scannable with the IRS scanner so you still have to purchase a 1098 form.

We use Turbo-tax. Our oldest son buys the Home & Business one that allows it to be downloaded on 5 computers and mine is one of them. :)

Ours are just about done. I need one interest statement and the official 1099-R's. I know what the 1099-R amounts are, just not the interest on one savings account we set up last year. I did a good job with my estimated taxes and tax credits for contributions to organizations that the state of AZ allows.
