From the CDC:

During the first week of infection, Zika virus can be found in the blood and passed from an infected person to another mosquito through mosquito bites.

During the "first week of infection," this woman was in Brazil and it was 8+ mos. ago.

The CDC confirms that Zika Virus has spread to Oceana. Zika is currently present in the Samoa Islands.

In Hawaii, the probability of acquiring dengue fever is more probable than acquiring Zika, both of which are low, imo.

I saw this on the news where they are calling this case transmission of a std. Does this mean Zika is a new std ?

I saw that, too. I saw a map of all the cases in U.S.
FLorida claimed state of emergency for Zika virus in a few counties yesterday.
