Can anyone who has used the sofa beds in the 1 bdrm units comment on their comfort? Have never used them in any TS really because there have always been just two of us traveling, but my sister may come with me on a visit in August and I wonder how livable (sleep-able?) they are.

Also since there is lanai access are there curtains for the sliding doors to help with early morning light in the summer?

I never really trust a sofa sleeper to be comfortable. We've only used the sleeper for our kids when they were young and slight. Your experience may be different.

You can ask for a roll in bed. We've done that as well as bought an air mattress. I think both are more comfortable.

That is why I asked. I don't trust them to be comfortable but I actually have slept on some comfortable ones; they do exist. Just wondered if they exist here. I figure in this crowd some adult has slept on one WKORV or has least heard a review of it from a relative who was invited along!

They are not bad - but the portable beds are more comfortable.

I find the sofa material to be uncomfortable (too coarse) - so I cover with a bed sheet.

When we 1st stayed at St John (2006-2008) - the sofa beds were so uncomfortable (sitting and sleeping) that the we offered (along with another owner of same villa ) offered to buy a new one. But, they remodeled soon after.

Answering my own question now that we are here. I skipped the sofa bed and got one of the portable beds. They are not the old "roller beds" that folded up like a taco for storage. These stay flat but tilt up more like a murphy that can be stored against a wall. The bed was quite comfortable and we were in a dedicated one bedroom and there was enough room in the foyer to put down the bed overnight. It created a very cozy nearly private sleeping space and I was very happy with that option.

I always take the mattress off of the sofa frame and put it directly on the floor. Usually much better if you can deal firmer support.

I considered that but wanted it to be easily put out of the way during the day. Since the mattress was on a solid wooden platform rather than springs or coils it had the same effect as the floor.

I find the sofa beds fine if there's just one of you. As someone who is 6'3" and 200lbs I spent a week on one this summer without any problems. I was however glad to still have 10 digits on my hands at the end of the week as folding and unfolding those things is an experience.

Helpful to know also. My solution which worked so well would not have worked at all in one of the lock-off units with a shared entryway. And there would have really not been any convenient place to stand up the bed during the day.

If you have a deluxe one bedroom, there is also room to do this in the entry hall just before the kitchen. Deluxe owners pay a fortune in MF for that space, so you might as well put it to good use.
