I have been told at both WKOVR and WPORV that Hawaii law requires that the kid's club take kids that are at least 5 years old. However, when I was at another resort in Kauai, they were able to take a 3 year old ot the kid's club. I think that this had something to do with licensing and certifications. I think that $50 is about right for a day although I think that I may have paid slightly more at WPORV. The kids really seem to enjoy the activities and playing with other kids for a day.

It's probably the ratio of adults to children. The WKORV website says their ratio is 6 to one and that's probably too high to be legal for children under the age of 5.

I tried to pass off my 4-year-old off as 5 and was called about 20 minutes later to come pick her up! I had to do the "walk of shame" ... humiliating!

That may be true. I was told at a Hyatt that there is a different certification for watching kid's under 5 in Hawaii. When I asked further questions they made it seem as if it had to do with more than just the ratio (education, testing, facility, etc.). It will be nice in 1 year and 5 months when I will have both kids at least 5 years old.

Last time we were thre my son had just turned 10. He said the kids club looked too babyish. When ever I saw the kids in the kids club or out at the pool they were closer to 5.

I agree. My daughter hit 10 and didn't want anymore to do with it but she enjoyed it until that age.

You might also like to try the night one at the Westin Hotel. I think it's 6-9pm and allows for an adult dinner out. They take flash lights and go on a geiko hunt on the grounds.
