I saw a view designation chart for WKORVN but not for WKORV.

From looking at the map it looks like the deluxe (corner) island view units in WKORV would be...

2-00 (building.. partial island)
2-01 (building)
3-00 (building)
3-01 (building)
4-20 (parking lot island)
4-02 (parking lot island)
3-00 (building)
3-01 (building)

Am I missing something or does it seem like it's a raw deal for a 30% higher MF? It looks like you're basically guaranteed a bad view.. not even an island view... just a bad view...

What happens if I call 11 months in advance and they don't have any of these rooms available? Do they stick you in a OV regular or an IV regular? I'm giving up the deluxe.. do I get a OV as comp?

I can't answer your other questions, but if the week you wanted is not available at 11 months, you have to try for another week. It wouldn't be fair to the other view categories to give you one of their weeks - they're making reservations at the same time also. From 8-12 months, you're guaranteed your category (and so are the other owners) based on availability only - where the early bird gets the worm.

The deluxe (corner) island views are only in building 4. There are three corners that are deluxe island. The two in the back near the street and the one in the front closest to the pool and lobby. You can get some decent views in two of the corners. The best being the corner closest to the pool. Like any of the views the best views are when you call at 12 months out with a Saturday check in. The view from the top floors in this corner are actually better than some of the ocean views. The high MF for these units are probably not worth it if you can afford a better view. (MF are based on square footage and the corner units are bigger.) The corner island view units are the only island view (in WKORV) where you have a chance of a decent view. There is a thread of some pictures taken from the front corner unit. I'll see if I can post some.

This is a picture from the 6th floor front corner unit. I'm not the best photographer but you can get the feel.maui 2006.jpg

Yup, you have to ask for another week.

At 12-8 months, you can ONLY book EXACTLY what you own (unit size and view), if available.

The two top floor corner units overlooking the pool have better views than (IMO) many of the OV units.

Here's the view from 4619/4621:

We own one of the IV Deluxes at WKORV, and the last time we stayed, we were extremely happy to have that particular unit as compared to the OVs that most of the rest of our group got -- they were typically obstructed, or you had to lean sideways off a corner of the deck to see the water...

Yep. For that much maintenance fee, you should get an oceanview or oceanfront unit. You can rent an oceanfront unit at another resort for that much without having to pay any upfront capital.

That's the units my picture was from too. You actually have an ocean view from the living area of the 1bdrm of that unit also
