I have two "wish to rent" ads posted in the marketplace. I got identical responses to each of them from the same person, worded the same except for the name of the timeshare offered. I am thinking this is a scam - but is there some way I can find out if the person who is making the offer is a Tug member, and what their username is?

Just ask what their user name is. There are several people here who do lots of rentals. It wouldn't be unusual that one person could rent several locations and if they rent out a lot, they probably use a standard reply. If they don't have a user name here, ask them specifically how you can check them out.

Thanks for the suggestion

Pretty obvious - I will email him to ask. Don't know why this did not occur to me.

People do not have to be TUG members to access the Marketplace, so someone who contacts you may or may not have a TUG user name.

We have had an ongoing problem with a scammer offering phony rentals to people who post wish list Ads.

In every case, the scammers were not able to provide documentation that they actually had a legitimate reservation available for rent. In some cases they dummied up a phony reservation that was obviously fake.

Please click on my blue user name and email me their info.

How to verify that is rental is Legit:
