Many of my friends like to go south for the winter to escape the cold. Last week in Alberta we had temperatures of almost 40 below Celsius...which is COLD!!!! Yesterday it felt like spring with the sun out and the snow at almost melting point. We have a saying here...if you don't like the weather...just wait a few hours...it will change. Having said that....my husband love the winters....this is one reason. I work in a semi rural area and over 40 years of driving, I have seen so many beautiful rural sunrises like this. It makes my heart sing.

Wouldn't that -40° Fahrenheit? :devilish:

Thanks for the picture.

Yes, I believe at -40, Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same -either way its darn cold! And that's without the wind-chill! Our oldest DS has been in Spirit's town, Edmonton, all winter for work and is very jealous of our +25-30 Celsius (77-86 F) temps here in Belize.

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but they have said that everywhere I've ever lived. Great picture, though.

I grew up in Minnesota, where they DON'T (can't) say that because once the winter starts there, they're stuck with it for five months without a real break. Instead they say that the persistent cold keeps the riffraff out. Doncha know.

I think your last comment has a lot of truth in it.
