Hello Tuggers. Happy New Year. I am retiring later this year and interested in a cruise on one of the sailing ships like Windstar. I would appreciate you sharing any good/bad experiences or advise. Thank you.
Tom
Since this is your first TUG post, one wonders why it refers to cruising, not timeshare. For cruise info, the go-to site is www.cruisecritic.com/
That said we cruised Windstar Barcelona-Lisbon. Great cruise experience. When the tall ship pulls into a small port, visited infrequently by cruise ships, the whole town turns out. We had 125 pax & 93 crew who know your name by the second meal. It's like a private yacht.
Yes, this is my first post but have been a reader of TUG for some time. Many have helped me with my time share questions. However, now we are planning a cruise and I was hoping to tap the experience of the TUG community. Thanks for your responses.

cruisecritic is to cruises what TUG is to time-sharing. You can get a wealth of information there from very experienced cruisers- some newbies, but many with dozens or even hundreds of cruises behind them. Then after you've settled on a cruise, go to the 'Roll-Calls' there and look for your cruise line, ship, and sailing date there. It will link you up with people who will be shipmates on your cruise. You can find private shore excursions, parties aboard, hotels, before and after the cruise and airport transport among other things. You can search which cabins are more desirable than others, and why. You can be alerted to when the line releases upgrades and develop friendships that last far longer than the cruise. You can find who plays bridge or pinochle or trivia, and who sets up a group slot pull in the casino.
In short, as great as TUG is, for cruises, there is a better resource.

Tom
Welcome to TUB BBS and a very Happy New Year to you. As many have stated about cruisecritic. There is a forum on cruisecritic wed site dedicated to Windstar Cruises.
Enjoy your cruise and your ts and again Welcome to TUG..
Have been on many Windstar cruises and have always had a wonderful time.
My experience has only been the Caribbean and Panama Canal.
What I like is: Never have to wait in a line - great crew - always enjoyed the
food - cabins are roomy - get to visit smaller ports - no jacket at dinner -
spends a lot of time in port sometimes overnight.
My favorite ship is the Windsurf. Love the sail away.
Thank you all for your welcome and your help. I will check out the cruisecritic web site. I was not aware of it. Also will take a look at the Windsurf ship.
