I have a reservation at Majestic Sun I was going to rent out with a check in on 6/28. I also have a reservation for myself at Edisto Island for the same date. I was planning on adding the guest name the week prior to check in. I'm fine if the majestic sun gets cancelled as its not for me but the Edisto is for me the owner so need to know if i need a back up plan? Both reservations were made in May. I'm also wondering if there is a chance for an upgrade? when I called they told me priority would be given to owners and upgrades were unchanged. Has anyone gotten and upgrade for a reservation in Fl or SC in June? Just wondering. thank you!!

Here's what I think (could be way off):

Club Wyndham at Majestic Sun - Phased Arrivals 5/26/2020, Accepting New Reservations 7/31/2020. Check-in is between the PA and ANR dates. I think Wyndham will cancel this reservation very shortly after you register your guest. If you wait until a week before check-in, you will probably have an unhappy guest, have to refund payment, etc.

Club Wyndham Ocean Ridge - Phased Arrivals 5/26/2020, Accepting New Reservations 6/30/2020 The check-in date is between the PA and ANR dates.. Since you are the owner, this reservation should not get canceled unless the resort has to cancel some owner reservations to achieve the desired level of occupancy. I don't think we have any idea how the resort or Wyndham would determine which owner reservation(s) to cancel. Owner status? Date reservation was made?

I would be nervous to put a guest name on any reservation at this time. I've not heard of any being honored. I think once you put a guest name on, the reservation will be cancelled.

For your reservation, you can't count on it, yet, but have a decent chance of it being honored. I think you'd get notice of cancellation 2-3 weeks prior. I got email notifications first, and maybe a week later they cancelled the reservation.

I did have an upgrade at Bonnet Creek. You would think there'd be plenty available, however, hearing of buildings out of service for refurbishing and such - who knows.

Best of luck to you!

I would be more nervous NOT putting a guest name on a reservation. I think the sooner it is done, the better. That way, owner and guest both know as soon as possible. I hate late surprises! I don't think it is prudent to try to game the system by slipping in a guest confirmation just before check-in.

I thought I read the owner cancellations would be based on the dates the reservations were made. Owner status doesn't seem to matter much anymore, will be interesting to see if that changes if/when the new privileges program rolls out. Oops, bet they need to change that name again.

Privileges doesn't necessarily mean what it says! The calculus has to be more complicated than just the date the reservation was made. Unit size has to be considered, too.

I just got a call yesterday confirming a reservation on the 16th of this month. I made the reservation in the discount window and it is more of a spread out, campus sort of resort. It was totally unexpected.

Two different VCs told me today that right now, Wyndham is not accepting guests from now to the end of the year. This is the same thing we've seen posted on other forums.

Taken literally, that means if I register a guest on one of my November reservations, Wyndham will cancel it. Of course, I'm not going to do that because I'm optimistic that things will turn around between now and then. Also, while the policy at the moment extends to the end of the year, that is not saying the policy will continue through the end of the year. It's not a day to day thing -- more like a week to week thing.

What I would do, Sandy, is sit on it for maybe a month or five weeks if your brother can live with that. The resort opened a few days ago and seems to be heading toward something like normal operations starting July 1. We'll know a lot more at the end of June than we knew at the end of May.

If anyone wants two 2BR Presidential units at National Harbor starting July 11 or July 18, keep watch of the website. I'll be canceling those reservations this evening along with some others.

If Wyndham Extra Holidays can rent there is no reason to cancel an owner reservation with a guest certificate. I personally use my points for my use. But fair is fair. If Wyndham Extra Holidays can rent so should owners. With current unemployment I'm sure many owner need to rent to maintain their ownership. Defaults will cause an increase in maintenance fees for the owners and will give Wyndham free points to rent and sell.

But what can we do about it? We're not driving the bus. We just hop on and hop off and try to enjoy the ride.

People on FB are saying that their cancelled reservations for June 16-30 are back in their account. So odd!

I didn't get any cancellations for that window. I have nine and one called to confirm. Everything was booked in the discount window. I can't figure out what I am doing in July (and that 15 day cancel window) if they don't let me know what they will allow me to do in June.

The struggle is real. If someone does want to travel, how can they possibly plan? I had June 18 and June 21 reservations cancel, they did not come back (nor do I want them to :)).

I understand points from cancellations being returned to accounts. I don't understand canceled reservations themselves reappearing.

Definitely concerning, if that's what happening (it has not happened to me).

Same here. Points come back immediately, guest confirmations restored in a few days after cancellation. I only have one guest reservation left. He was registered in May for a two week stay at Skyline Tower with a July 18 check-in. I fully expect Wyndham to cancel it in early July.

I have a bunch of people "penciled in" for reservations in August through October. I'm not getting guest confirmations. I'm not taking any payments.
