Has anyone stayed at WOR during the holiday season? I just booked a 3 bedroom for my family for 2 nights in December. Is there anything that we should make sure we do in our short time there? Kids Ages 5 and 8. Grandparents will also be joining.

Also, any recommendation on which room to request? Is there a difference between a 3 bedroom and a 3 bedroom Lock off?

We actually own at this resort, but have never stayed. We are excited to finally visit!

It’s a great resort, we are there every summer with 15-20 children 12 and under. The Riverwalk (about a 20-25 minute drive) will be beautiful. Could be chilly, so bring some warm clothes. The lazy river is not heated, but the main pool(s) are, so you will get some quality pool time. 3 BR’s are all lock offs. Not great for families with young kids, but doable. You enter a single door which leads to a small foyer entrance that has 2 doors into the studio and the 2 BR Should be fine, the grandparents in the studio and your family in the 2 BR.
Downtown San Antonio will be really festive and beautifully decorated for the holidays. I would walk the river and visit the Mercado downtown. To really see the Hill Country you would need 4-7 nights. Enjoy.

Love that they have an indoor pool too. Their fire pit also looks inviting.

For several years, we have visited WOR for a few days between the end of school and Christmas Eve, driving back to Houston in time for Christmas eve services and Christmas at home. Lovely place to spend some family time.

(1) WOR will be empty. It's lovely and relaxing.

(2) The indoor and outdoor pool connect, so if the overnight lows are chilly, the water will be as well. Heated yes, but chilly. A shorty wetsuit or a wetsuit jacket would be good, if you have them. On colder trips, we've had the pools completely to ourselves, just by having our suits with us. The lazy river will be on -- as in the water is always circulating -- but it will be very cold. My teens enjoy it in their suits . . . too chilly for my blood.

(3) As noted, the riverwalk is nicely decorated. If you are going to make the trek into town for that, the holiday lights at Incarnate Word University, just north of downtown, are also worth your time. They have several choral concerts there too that are enjoyable.

(4) Remember that WOR visitors also have full run of Hyatt Hill Country. It's a lovely, more established, resort, under a mile away. They have much better dining options, including some nice holiday dinners and events. So keep an eye on there schedule of events as well.
