It's been smoky around here for about a week. Yesterday we did get close enough to the wild fire to see flames and multiple areas burning. Not only is there smoke , there is ash. Today there is a light layer of ash on everything. This was arson. No word on containment yet.

Really bad here in Western Idaho due to half of Eastern Oregon being on fire the past few weeks. Yearly summer smoke and winter inversions are pretty much a given here. Fortunately, neither lasts that long.

It rained hard for a bit this afternoon. I hope it was enough to contain the fire. Our summer smoke and winter inversions seem similar. The winter inversions over here seem like they last forever.

We got a little overnight and morning rain as well. Hoping it knocked down the Durkee fire a bit. Last numbers I saw were 289,000 acres and 49% containment. Roughly 100 miles NW of here.

So far we have been lucky, a few days of light haze and slight smoke smell, but nothing like previous years... Hopefully it stays this way
