So far, change fee waivers do not extend past April 30.
Our trips are in May (cruise: Boston-Montreal) and Europe in June.

Well, you may be right. I changed my flight and ticket to Orlando for April last Thursday and saved $40. Now, the same flights are $70 less. You can only change with Delta once. We paid $206 and the same ticket is now $136.

Update: The fare to Orlando for April has now gone down to $62 rdtp on Delta from $246 we paid last week! I'm also seeing that our flights to HNL for October have gone down $10, but I might wait a little longer on this one in case it decreases again.

I have Italy in June. I paid to change my ticket. Don’t care, I didn’t want to leave at 6:45am the cost was 80 dollars.

We have been booked- through a travel agent- on United to/from Italy in June/July. United says refunds have to come through the T/A, and they want $600 ($300 each). We've decided to wait until United extends their no-charge changes/cancellations through our travel dates. Might pay off. Might not. Either way after July, the money is spent cost.

It's true.....I had decided to cancel cruise that would have left this weekend and had resigned myself to the fact I was eating the costs. I decided to let thing play out though, heck I could have got sick and been able to claim on insurance. The cruise line ended allowing us to cancel for 100% as a credit for a year. I had flights booked with JetBlue via Chase UR and I waited that out. Yesterday, they finally announced no change/cancellation fees. So, have a decent credit with them now too. All worked out. If I would have cancelled early on, I probably would have been out all the money. I am not 100% fully reimbursed via future use credits. Works for me.

As a Southwest flyer, I've been checking and changing frequently - my flight costs just keep dropping. Most were already at very low fares, thanks to the free MAX change program, but some routes are cheaper now than I have seen in a long time. No telling if we'll actually be taking all the trips, but if we do, they'll all be pretty damned cheap.

Still waiting on Alaska to announce waivers for April. This is making me an even more loyal Southwest flyer. I cannot believe how much time I am wasting on hold etc. trying to get travel refunded.

Our trip to Seattle on Alaska Airlines isn't until May. So I'm waiting to see what happens.

If your cancellation can’t be processed online, be aware that the phone lines are extremely busy. So once your dates qualify for the waiver, don’t wait until the last moment to cancel.

Here are two examples

BASIC ECONOMY FARE
Basic economy fare was never supposed to be available for cancellations or refunds. As a result, online reservation systems may not allow you to cancel your flight online. My sister-in-law wasn’t able to request a cancellation of her Delta basic economy fare online even though April travel dates were waived and she couldn’t get through on the phone line last night. I’m assuming all folks who booked basic economy fares (at least on Delta) will have to call in to process their waiver.

CANCELLATIONS that must be processed via Chase Ultimate Rewards
I booked my April flight on United. United Airlines is not allowing online changes for folks who booked their flight through Chase Ultimate Reward which uses Expedia (link). The Chase portal currently requires customers to call to process their cancellation. We decided to cancel our April trip this week so I haven’t tried calling yet. However I received the following email from Chase last night

We know many of you are facing long wait times when trying to contact us about adjusting your travel plans because of COVID-19. We apologize.
As always, we follow the policies of our partners, which means a credit, refund or change is at the discretion of the airline, hotel, cruise line or other travel provider.....
We understand your feeling of urgency, but we can serve you better when you wait to call us if:
• You are not starting your trip within three days
• You trip isn’t covered by a specific flexible change policy offered through the partner
We are also working with our travel partner Expedia to launch other self-service cancellation options soon. We are addressing individual cases and will work with customers who can’t reach us right now.

If Chase works through Expedia , then you’re scr***d. I’ve been calling Expedia for the last 10 days to cancel my trip and I’ve been on hold for 1-2 hours and then the phone goes dead. Now my trip is in a week. I hope they figure out a solution fast, but as I’ve read online from complaints, probably not

Try calling at 2AM. I did that once and was on hold for only 1 hour.

Thanks for the warning. I’m giving Chase the three days they requested before calling in to cancel our April flight.

People need to calm down and not cancel yet because this can blow over in three weeks. June travel should be fine !

It just isn’t clear how long this will last.
Correct, but life has to resume at a certain point, like the flu this will be around and the risks of catching it are going to be there. Tough times we are living in. I wish China never had it breakout of Wuhan

Of course, life will resume at a certain point. Probably when we have a vaccine similar to what we have for the flu. Postponing travel is definitely an inconvenience but not the end of the world. The focus now is controlling the rate of the infection.

I’m hoping by mid May it’s over. This China Virus won’t be the last one that comes around. Unreal, I feel bad for those affected.

I'm waiting for Delta to extend it's fee waiver so I can cancel a trip in May.
Otherwise, their change fees would eat up close to half our ticket prices.

I also need them to extend international fee waivers from May to June.

Oberammergau postponed their Passion Play to 2022.
Ironically, they started doing it in 1634 to ward off the bubonic plague.
Now, it'll have to wait two more years.

Near the sea.
Iceland air isn’t doing refunds either. My tickets are for June 4.

It may take HAL 2 more weeks to cancel our 5/23 cruise to Montreal.
So, I'll just chill out on Delta for those flights.

It also looks like our Euro-tour for June is in tatters.
But again, mid-April seems to be decision time.
