Le Meridian has to be one of my least favourite brands in the Marriott world. No comparison to the St. Regis or even JW Marriott.

I had to laugh with the gushing description of the Shanghai location. Yes - it has a beautiful view from the lounge. But the smell of sewer gas wafting up through the floor drain in the bathroom, half baked renovations and construction workers hammering at 2 am down the hall soured me on the brand.

I tried the Le Meridian in Nuremberg, Germany and did not have a good experience. Even when I went to the desk to discuss my concern about their failure to effectively communicate, the response was completely dismissive and lacked and customer care. Never was resolved and I have easily avoided the brand since with much better guest service elsewhere in the big M stable of brands.

I stayed in the overwater bungalows at Le Meridien in Bora Bora. It was great with a perfect location.
