Hi all! I'm writing an article about timeshare and want to mention this website and also a bit about who founded it and (presumably) owns it today. who started TUG, in what year, and where is it based?

Any other detail much appreciated.

If you read this entire thread, I am sure you will find what you need. It talks about the inception of TUG, the original owner, the current owner, and about the history of both TUG itself and the TUG BBS, which did not start at the same time.
