We have a 2 bedroom oceanfront unit at the Shell Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy for 2 weeks in December. Since we have not stayed there before, can anyone reccommend which of the three buildings we should request?

I'm sure you won't have any problems. However, when we stayed there 2 years ago we had a reservation a 2bdrm. When we got there they said they didn't have any more 2bdrm but they gave us 2 1-bdrm. I would have complained but it actually worked for us. An employee told us they do that all the time. It appeared that all the 2bdrm are ocean front but I can't say for sure.

I believe there is one 2-bdrm and 1 1-bdrm for each building (3 buildings). We have small children so being on the bottom floor is a must for us since it is so convenient to run out onto the grass and not have to worry about the balcony. It's nice to have a front yard to play in for the kids. On the bad side the first floor has less privacy since people do walk in front of the resort and look in. If you have a heavy stomper above you, you will get noise from the people above you. Since we keep the sliding glass doors open most of the time and the sound of the waves are so loud we only really notice it if we are in bed and the people above us are moving around alot. If you're a light sleeper it might really bug you. You have a decent view from whatever floor you are on. Personally, I like the first floor view better than the 2nd or 3rd floors because you don't have the rail of the balcony obstructing your view.
All three buildings have their good points. We like the middle building because it's near the pool and just felt more central. The middle building probably does have the worst parking though. The building near the empty field is probably the most quiet and has the most parking near the building. Probably our least favorite building is the one near the other resort, only because we noticed how many of their guests were walking over to use the Beach Boy's jacuzzi. They really need to do something about that.
