I still kept my flights and reservations open for Hawaii in December. Awaiting and planning this trip is what refreshes and excites me even though I have been to Hawaii about 40 times.

Now for the timeshare I rented in December. Yes, I think it’s my favourite so it’s only fitting to travel back to this one next vacation.

Yup, Maui Ocean Club. Always my first pick. This time, I got 2 weeks ocean front 2 bedroom for 1200.00. Yes, you read right. I got it from a kind tugger who has a ton of points and would rather me use some of them instead of letting them expire.

Why Maui Ocean Club? Impeccable rooms, awesome staff and great BBQs. Also, the location couldn’t be better. Every time I go to Maui Ocean Club, I feel like the experience was better than the last visit. The last visit was darn good too!

So, after this garbage is over, where do you want to go to first thing? How about the timeshare you want to book for this next vacation? Why is this timeshare your favourite?

You know my answer, don’t you? Sunrise Bay on Marco Island...or anywhere on Marco Island or Old Key West.

Yes, predictable for sure. I had a booking there and had to cancel it . One day, I will make it there.

We almost booked a week at Four Seasons in Scottsdale to play golf in the last week of April when our golf courses got closed by our governor last week. It would be foolish to leave the safety of our home and as tempting as it was we did not trade into it. So we would, very soon, like to check out that property, after COVID-19 pandemic is over. In the meantime, we have September booked at Marriott's Newport Coast which will most likely be cancelled. The next trip is in November at Westin Mission Hills for Thanksgiving and we are hoping that the risk of getting and dying from COVID-19 is greatly reduced by having an effective treatment and/or vaccine by then.

I'm probably going to cancel a couple of trips for this year. Waikiki New Years looks like it is out even though it isn't officially canceled. The Lake Chelan trip was just canceled because of the Washington State closure on fishing. The Mexico trips haven't been booked yet as the reservation center is still closed and there is uncertainty over covid 19 in Mexico.

I still have the reservation for Yellowknife Canada but I'm likely to cancel that too. Probably bank and deposit all the weeks I have for winter 2021-22. I still have a deposit at SFX to use up by June, a WM week and a couple of Mexico weeks I haven't used for 2020.

So it is starting to look like there is no place like home. I haven't been home for the entire winter for at least 20 years. It would seem odd.

The only place I've been since March 13th, 33 days, is to the dentist on March 18th to have stitches removed. The week before that we were in Orlando and I went nowhere but we did stop to eat on our way home. We have reservations for 3 weeks starting on May 16th at Wyndham Lake Marion resort in South Carolina and Wyndham Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. They replaced a stay in later April that I had booked at Wyndham Old Town Alexandria in DC. We were really looking forward to going to DC because it's been 10 years since we were there last. At the time I booked the other stays I figured by mid May and very early June it would be safe to stay in rural areas. Especially since we could make the drive in a single day. We would pack our lunch and snacks to eat in the car and limit our liquids so we were only stopping for gas and as few bathroom breaks as possible. I haven't cancelled them yet but I fully expect to even if the resorts are open.

So where would I like to be? Somewhere it's not too hot to have the windows and doors open. By this time in April it's full time AC weather here. It would be rare to have a day in the low 70's and have the house open. I've gotten very used to the peace and quite so somewhere there aren't a lot of people or traffic. I think I will need to transition back to that, lol. Mountains, lakes, woods all sound really good right now.

If there was a vaccine and I didn't have any concerns at all about COVID-19, in nothing flat I could have us packed and out of here for the next several months.

I would be happy to go back to our home resorts this summer, Smuggs and Pollard Brook, week 30 ad 31. But not sure it will happen.

This was to be our last year at Smuggs as we applied for the Farewell program. I can't bank the weeks because we would not be eligible. But not sure if they are even going to move forward with the program.

I would bank Pollard Brook if they do not open but too soon to know yet. Don't belong to RCI. Not sure how close to check in I can bank in Trading Places or Platinum or whatever. Have to find out.

I didn't take out travel insurance to cover the maintenance fees for the first time this year. Normally I would have done so with Generali in December but I put it off as we were too busy with moving and everything and I was sure we would be using them anyway as we have never had to cancel in the 20 years we have owned. Plus if we couldn't our son could have.

Lots of ironies this year.

The trip I’m most looking forward to is Bonnet Creek/Disneyworld spanning late October, early November. Bonnet Creek is my favorite Wyndham resort and it will be the 25th Anniversary Epcot Food &Wine Festival. We have other trips booked for May and August but just short getaways that won’t hurt too much if we have to cancel. Having to cancel Bonnet Creek would be very disappointing.

Divi Little Bay in St Maarten, our home resort. Have gone there nearly every winter for a week or two for almost 20 years. Hope we'll be back to support the friendly island in 2021, because it’s almost completely locked down right now with the airport closed for an unknown amount of time.

Brewster Green (two weeks).
Want to spend about three weeks between traveling to and from our Brewster Green two weeks on the Cape. Will probably lose this year's weeks, late May/early June. Even if Brewster Green re-opens May 6th as their email stated, we will take a wait and see attitude. I believe there will be a second wave and it's not worth it.

At this point...any 4 star and above during peak season will do...cabin fever!

We have a WKORVN OF stay which we will schedule in late 2021. Also would like to revisit the Big Apple. Hope it is safe to travel by then.

I want to go to all 3 timeshare vacays scheduled for later this year!

Priority #1 is the Royal Regency in Paris booked for mid-September! Sad to say that is the least likely to become a reality.

In October we will be sharing Worldmark Birch Bay booked by my DBiL & "baby" sis with his Worldmark Points in a 3-bedroom along with my middle sis and her DH. We havent't seen them since April 2018. Chances seem pretty good for this to be a go.

At the end of June we have a unit at VRIs Sandastle Village II in New Bern NC. I'm thinking 50/50 for this exchange to take place. Plan is to head to Mt. Pleasant SC at the end of the t/s week to visit our DD, DSiL and hopefully all 3 college age grandsons will be around too. That will occur even if we do't go to New Bern. The youngest is likely to miss out on next month's graduation from Wando H.S. and all the accompanying celebrations- even though the state of SC was slow to issue shelter-in-place orders, Mt. Pleasant wasn't.

We have one 7 and one 8 day reservation, at same time at Paniolo Greens on the Big Island in June. Have two days at another Shell resort for another 2 days at the beginning of the trip with a week in between at a rental house in Mauna Lani Resort. I expect to have to cancel all. Then I'm going to have a lot of points for the next couple of years. Probably going back to Hawaii for that. Although I am thinking of looking in Europe for the spring of 2021, if virus done by then

We've already had to cancel 2 trips this year. One in February to St. Maarten due to a health issue with my Dad. The other was to Massanutten for the first time. I expect we'll be cancelling a trip to The Summit at Gore Mountain, just outside of Lake George, that's scheduled for the last week of May. Hopefully we'll be able to make our scheduled trips to Vacation Village at Westin & Vidanta Riviera Maya in September, Las Vegas in November and Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta at Christmas time.

To be honest with everyone any 4 or 5 star timeshare in Hawaii.
This year was going to be our first trip to Hawaii and that Coronavirus has changed our travel/trip plans. Two weeks in Hawaii and three (3) days in San Diego with my godson and his girfriend. Who is a COVID-19 RN in a local San Diego hospital.

Maybe next year we can travel to The Big Island.

Before I retired from TimeSharing (age and health) I owned 6 Fixed Weeks at 6 different HOA Controlled Independent Resorts. One of the things that became apparent to me was that Ownership was not necessary. The Resorts had a large number of Weeks available for rent often at rates equal to or less than MFs. Some of the Weeks were Weeks where they were acting as Agent for Owners but many were Repos and/or Buy Backs. So just as there are many who advocate renting the nicer Resorts if I had to do it today, I would't own but would rent...
