We are looking for a 2 bedroom in the Disney area (off-site). we usually stay on Disney property but will be trading through RCI this year. Our question is which resort?? Hilton Grand Vacation Club @ SeaWorld, Orange Lake- West Village or Sheraton Vistana Resort?? they all look nice and are rated Gold Crown with RCI. Please help... good or bad. Thank you!

HGVC Sea World & Vistana Orlando, Yes. Orange Lake, Maybe.

We were favorably impressed with both HGVC Sea World & Vistana Orlando when we exchanged in via RCI a few years back.

For a long time Orange Lake was on our "maybe some day" list for possible future RCI exchange. Now it's on our "maybe not" list, mainly because it's way out there on Rt. 192 most of the way to Rt. 27.

Orange Lake is a gorgeous resort, with tons to do inside the resort itself. Disney is a few miles away. If WDW is a must-see, there are closer resorts (like Wyndham Bonnett Creek).

I think you will love Orange Lake especially if you can stay in River Island. We go every year and the kids love the resort as much as WDW. Every one says that 192 is so far and such a hassle but there really is a lot to do there. We love it.

I agree HGVC Sea World (and International Drive) are wonderful places. However, Bonnet Creek is only a step down from the Hilton facilities and has a couple of advantages.

One is availability. Except for holidays, it is very easy to get a reservation (and exchange into) Bonnet Creek. If visiting Disney theme parks is your reason for being in Orlando, I'd avoid holidays anyway if you can (unless standing in line is your thing). If visiting Disney theme parks is not why you are there, there are at least a dozen resorts that will do nicely.

Two is free scheduled shuttles to Disney. We used the shuttle a few years ago and found it to be far better than driving, paying for parking, etc. Someone with more recent experience can jump in here.

We have stayed at many of the Orlando resorts and our favorites would be HGVC international Drive and Bonnet Creek. While Orange Lake is nice, we found it too spread out and based on where you are placed the distance to the pool can be so far that you end up driving or taking the resort shuttle.

Agree on Orange Lake. Way too spread out. If you google earth it you can get an idea of how large the property is.

Orange Lake is one of our least favourite resorts, due to its size, and its tendency to nickle-and-dime for everything. On our last visit, we were stuck so far in the boonies, at the very end of Kem Way, that it was a 10-15 minute walk to the pool.

On the other hand, we loved Bonnet Creek. The units were immaculate and well-appointed. There were lots of free activities and a wonderful lazy river with free tubes. Hands down, I would choose Bonnet Creek over OL.

HGVC Sea World is a GREAT resort, especially for kids because of their pool and playground area. BUT, it is a bit of a drive to Disney from there. OK if you're also doing Sea World and Universal. HGVC International Drive is closer to Disney, as is Vistana Resort and the Villages. Bonnet Creek is closer yet, but not that great unless you get the right room. I'm not a fan of Bonnet Creek.

I agree with this post hands down my first choice would be HGCV @ Seaworld.
Great location and outstanding on-site amenities.

I would think if you are there to do Disney, and all your time is in the parks, then any of the resorts would suit you just fine. For proximity, I'd take Sheraton Vistana or Bonnet Creek (though you didn't mention it as an option) or any of the HGVC properties are nice, just a further drive from Disney. Any way you request it, I'd think you'll be happy.

My mother stayed at Hilton Grand Vacation Club @ SeaWorld this past October and loved it. She said it was her favorite resort of the aprox. 12 she/we have stayed at in Orlando.

I stay at Sheraton Vistana Resort a lot and like the location and the quality. (I love it except for one thing: Unplug the phone - the time share people call early. )

I have a friend that owns in Orange Lake. She likes that it is away from Disney and a little more spread out. She goes to get away from the families and craziness that Orlando can be. Hard to judge which is best for you since we don't know your priorities and travel party ages. I don't think you will be disappointed with any of the 4 options given. (Above and Bonnet Creek.)

That is the exact reason we chose to buy Bonnet Creek. With 3 little ones I am always needing to run back to the room for something. There you have space but not distance. (if that makes sense).

We own at Vistana and love the location and things to do for the kids - toddlers to teens. We have stayed at HGVC Seaworld and like it too. Orange Lake gets a big thumbs down from the kids because they couldn't just go out and do without a trek.

If you do decide on Orange Lake, there is a back way to Disney to avoid a lot of the traffic.
