We are planning to travel to San Antonio, Washington DC and New Orleans in the next year or so. I would like some honest opinions on which Wyndham property would be the best choice in the various cities. (each city has 2 or more choices)

Thank you!

I can't give you an opinion on any of the ones your asking but it may be helpful to you to sign up for tug because they have full resort reviews which may give you what you are looking for.

My favorite property in New Orleans is La Bella Mansions, have stayed there numberous times and is just 1-2 blocks from the french quarter so everything down there is with in walking distance. The trolley runs very close to you. The aquarium, Harrah's Casino, and all the eating joints are very close, Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral is all within walking distance. It is a very nice and clean location and i would recommend it. We rented a car first time we went but last two times we have not cause we just walked around everywhere down near french quarter or road trolley to locations like the zoo and a few other areas. I am not sure about San Antonio we are going to stay in La Casada in March so can let you know then if you want to PM me. Not sure about the other location you asked about either though. If you want to know more about New Orleans just ask me i will help if i can.

In New Orleans Wyndham has 2 choices.La Belle Maison and Avenue Plaza

LaBelle Maison is an old building that has been gutted and re built from the inside out , top to bottom, which is unusual in New Orleans. It id located 2 blockd from the French Quarter and is cery close to the Canal St streetcar line, making everthing in town convenient to you

Avenue Plaza was built in the 1950s but a complete rehab was just done. There are no bathtubs and no 2 bedroom units.. It is in the Garden District about 2 miles from the French quarter but on the historic st Charles Ave street car line. This place has a courtyard with what is probably the largest swimming pool among the NOLA timeshares. Some folks prefer this location over La Belle Maison because its a residential neighborhood and quieter than La Belle Maison

In the DC area your choices are Alexandria and National Harbor... Alexandria is right on the Metro and in a real town, ...at National Harbor you need a car or take the bus to a Metro Station. or a water taxi to Alexandria where you can take a trolly to the Metro. National Harbor itself is a creation of a developer, There are plenty of restaurants, but nothing cheap

In San Antonio your choices are La Casada and Riveside Suites...Here the choices are much like New Orleans,..New vs old. although Riverside is just that,,,right on Riverwalk

My choices would be Avenue Plaza, Riverside Suites and National Harbor not consistent and maybe a little odd...but thats me

We stayed at Riverside suites. It is quirky in an Historic Building. Our room overlooked the Riverwalk..the middle of the Riverwalk. It was very cool. Noisy until late at night but very cool. Our 1 bedroom was supposed to sleep 4 but the sitting area is very small, would not like being on the sleeper there. there is a 2nd bath downstairs. To get upstairs where the master is requires climbing a curvy spiral staircase. Just want you to know in case you have any physical limitations.
I would stay there again..It is hard to get though. Many owners use their weeks every year.

As with most things, I pretty much agree with Ron.

I demur on places near Washington, DC. For almost everyone whose purpose for being in DC is sightseeing, I think Old Town Alexandria is the more desirable resort. Much easier local transportation, free parking, infinitely greater choice of places to take meals (within walking distance of the resort and within walking distance of any Metro station).

In New Orleans, the two Wyndham facilities have vastly different characters and appeal to different people. Both are great resorts and you can't go wrong in either.

I would only add that there are at least two top-rated resorts right in the French Quarter -- Quarter House and Club La Pension. CLP has been closed for over a year for a major refurbishment but is due to start re-opening in phases over the next few months (hat tip to Ron Parise). Give them a month or two to shake-down and it should be a truly superior resort. Quarter House is my favorite in New Orleans. Do your research.

I have no personal experience with San Antonio timeshares. I think Riverside Suites is a former Salvation Army facility (something like that) converted to timeshares. My daughter stayed in La Cascada a few years ago and loved it. She says it is extremely close to the Riverwalk and of course, it is a much newer facility, built as a timeshare resort. Again, do your research.

We stayed at La Cascada last March break and loved it. We didn't want to stay at riverside b/c they didn't have a pool. At la Cascada you were right between the river walk and the Mexican market. It was awesome, very short walk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

La Cascada in San Antonio is also on the Riverwalk. It is on the south end of it whereas Riverway is on the north end. Neither are in the middle of all of the visitor/tourist areas. Both are about a 10 minute easy way on the Riverwalk to the tourist areas.

La Casacada is newer and much more comfortable for a group of 3 or more.
