We are a family of 4 with two teens (boy and girl) and going to FLA for some of winter break.

Including 12/31 there are available 2 BR at

Las Palmeras
Seaworld

And there is a 1 BR at Tuscany.

We'd prefer a 2 BR unless Tuscany is vastly superior.

So of Las Palmeras and Seaworld, which is better for us?

I don't know our plans. Maybe Universal for a day. Not Disney. If there are some great fireworks on New Year's Eve we'd love to watch them. If anything's open we might drive to the Space Center for a long day. We like eating really good food.

We'd like to go to Miami Beach but McAlpin is booked as of now.

And second question re: points. If I book 12/31 - early Jan, do the points for 12/31 come from 2024 and the rest from 2025?

If your reservations starts in 2024, then it will be treated as a 2024 reservation.

I'd opt for SeaWorld. SeaWorld's 2BR units are a bit larger than Las Palmeras and I read somewhere that Las Palmeras is a hotel conversion.

This is correct. The floor plans are a little funky. The Las Palmeras 2 bedroom is not a good choice if you will be spending a lot of time cooking, because the kitchen is minimal.

thanks we booked at Seaworld, and frankly using up some 2024 points helps us so starting 12/31 worthwhile... though i think we'll still end up having to pay to save. (weird year with two new deeds that included "free" 2024 points so don't feel bad having to save one time. but we are going to have a gazillion points to use next year !)

Keep an eye on your reservation. There's always a possibility of adding day(s), which would help burn some 2024 points.

Remember, you'd rather be a borrower of points than a lender.

You could save all of you 2024 pts first and then have made the reservation. It will pull from 2024 pts first (if you didn’t have any then next step), pull from 2024/25 saved pts, then 2025 pts.

good idea

i'm waiting for August when our final held reservations (in November) will get confirmed/refined or canceled, then hope to save all needed saved points in one fell swoop. then i'll try to rejigger any reservations i can. is that the right order?
