We own at Lakeshore and Grande Vista. We typically rent our Lakeshore week and our Grande Vista week is an EOY. Next year, my son won't be joining us, so it will be just be me, my wife and our 16 year old daughter. There won't be enough at Lakeshore for her to do so we plan on renting that week again. Grande Vista has lots to do while hanging around, but it's not our year to occupy our unit. We will be coming President's Week next year and have enough DC points to stay anywhere in Orlando, including Grande Vista. We've never been to any of the other Orlando resorts and usually do not go to Disney so being close to Disney is not a factor. So, which Orlando Marriott resort do you suggest and please tell us why. Thanks for you suggestions!!!

Why are you limited to Orlando? Why not further south in a beachfront location?? Ocean Pointe, Oceana Palms, BeachPlace Towers, Crystal Shores...and now South Beach??

What types of activities are you looking for? I have always thought of Lakeshore as a property with some of the most to do, especially with JW and Ritz next door. Grande Vista is the most "active" and it really can't be beat if the active "feel" is the goal. Another good one is Cypress Harbour. It has a great variety but more of a mature feel versus GV. You can also shoot for one of the Palms properties with the goal of using the World Center pool and facilities.

Sabal Palms, a quiet gem just a 3-minute walk to the World Center and all of its restaurants and activities.

Thank you for your suggestions. We are interested in sticking with Orlando next year because my daughter enjoys Orlando for things like go-karting at Funspot and the Outlet Malls even if we don't hit Disney. We've also been to Oceana Palms, which I liked, and my wife has also been to Ocean Pointe. Beachplace Towers didn't do it for us when our family stayed there. In addition, Oceana Palms and Ocean Pointe would require significantly more points if we chose to stay there during President's Week. We'll have to check out the Palms properties as we are not that familiar with the World Center. We'll also look further into Cypress Harbour.

I think you and your family will really enjoy the Palms and access to the World Center resort. The pools and waterslides at the world center are really nice, and there is also a food court for convenient meals at a fair price. We have been staying at Royal Palms for years and now spend a majority of our time at the resort.

Royal Palms has it's own pool and workout room, but is a little farther from the hotel. We typically walk, but there is a complimentary shuttle. I haven't stayed at Sabal Palms, but hope to in the future after BocaBoy's strong recommendation. It is very close to the World Center Spa, Fitness Center, and pools. It only has a small pool of its own.

There are a few buildings to avoid due to their proximity to a busy road, but they have always accommodated my building requests. Staff has been outstanding.

We have stayed at all the Orlando properties except for the three Palms. Though we will be staying at two of them this year. I have probably posted this before, but here is our breakdown.

Cypress Harbour: While all 2BR dedicated units they really aren't good for an older family. The second bedroom only has a queen and a pullout sofa that when pulled out doesn't leave a lot of room. The kitchen and living area is huge and the sofa in the living room pulls out also. So it can work, just not my top pick with an older family of four. Great for a couple though.

Harbour Lake: Primarily 2BR dedicated units with some lock offs. This is a great property for young families, the property caters to kids. Spash pad, pirate pool, and the only Orlando property with putt putt.

Grande Vista: HUGE. This is one of our favorites. Lots of pools, onsite restaurant and lots of onsite food options. You will never run out of things to do here. 2BR and 3BR units make this great for larger families that want to be able to spread out.

Lakeshore Reserve: Access to the JW and Ritz properties is a plus. It is the only Marriott timeshare in Orlando with a lazy river and I can float around in it all day. More upscale than any of the others, but it is also harder to trade in to than any of the others. It is the furthest of all the properties to WDW.

Sabal, Imperial and Royal Palms: Haven't visited any of these yet, but we are looking forward to access to the World Center property, their pools and that SLIDE TOWER. I have read that access to the slide tower is $10 a day per villa. I am probably the only one in our villa that will use it, but I know I will be using them. Great bargain IMO.

Imperial recommendations

We are moving from 2 weeks here at Cypress Harbour to Imperial Palms tomorrow and just thought to check here on TUG for villa recommendations. My elder mother in law is with us and guests will be joining us in the 3rd bedroom.
The following week we will be at Sabal for the first time also. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I think Imperial is pretty small and it is probably a little late to put in villa requests now since you are checking in tomorrow.

One thing to keep in mind for Sabal is that if your elder mother will be staying there also, is that there are no elevators. So if stairs are an issue, be sure to ask for a first floor unit.
