Which one would you choose Sedona Summit or Club Wyndham Sedona?

I have an opportunity to stay at either resort and not sure which one to choose. There will be three of us staying in the unit. Sedona Summit is a 1 bed bedroom and Club Wyndham Sedona will be a 1 bedroom suite. I know the Wyndham will be smaller, but will it be too crowded for the three of us? Which one is closer to restaurants and has better resort features like the pool/spa? Plan on hiking early in the morning and returning in the afternoon to hang out at the pool during the heat of the day. How is the WiFi at either location?

Sedona Summit Wi-Fi was a headache for us two years ago. Sub standard.

Pros and cons for each. We’ve stayed at both but it was years ago when we stayed at Wyndham. I’m not familiar with the Wyndham suite; is that a studio? The one bedroom at the Summit is spacious and definitely room for three of you, especially in the older section. At the Summit, you can walk to many hiking/biking trails in the Western Gateway trails. There are, also, several trails across the road by and across from from the Marriott and high school. There is an almost $200 resort fee($25 a day plus tax) at the Summit. They have activities and several pools and hot tubs. I, personally, don’t feel the resort fee is warranted. the Wyndham is closer to restaurants and grocery stores. A short walk will bring you to hikes in that area (I think that is the Carroll Canyon area). We prefer the hikes near the Summit. We dislike checking in at the Summit as they do a hard sell to entice you to a presentation that Is extremely high pressure (this was years ago and we haven’t done one since, saying “NO MEANS NO!” Last year they offered us our week back; we still said NO.) Now it seems that some Wyndhams are like this when you check in. We eat most of our meals in because of dietary issues. Because of availability when exchanging, we usually stay at the Summit. It, also, gives us the flexibility to get a rental car or not as the Verde Shuttle has stops just outside the resort on 89A. The Summit has a washer/dryer in the unit; I don’t remember if the Wyndham does. We spend most of our time hiking. WiFi as above poster said is sub- standard; can’t remember what it was like at the Wyndham. Hope this helps and glad to try to answer any specific questions you might have.

The 1 BR suite is the smaller of the two units that make up a 2 BR lockoff, they also have 2 BR deluxe unit at wyndham sedona location too. The 2 BR Lockoff units made up of a 1 BR Deluxe (A) and a 1 BR Suite (B). The 1 BR Deluxe is a better option as it has the larger patio/balcony that is only found on the Deluxe side, the Suite side does not have a patio/balcony feature. The 2 BR Deluxe unit (C) has a balcony/patio but it is not as large and is set back from the A unit patio which sticks out more.

Each building cluster is 2 stories, and is made up of 2 buildings connected by a breezeway. Each building is made up of an A B and C unit, the ofder just varies. The pattern that each building cluster has is C, A, B the breeze way then a B, A, C. The A/B combo unit always is found running along the breezeway and thus has no windows on that side of the unit. The C units are always on the outside of the clusters and have windows in the 2nd BR and in the Master Bath. I find these extra windows do make the unit lighter and brighter, although all the kitchens are dark, and you need the lights to do anything in them at all.

The 1 BR Suite has a mini kitchen and not a full kitchen.

Wyndham provides free wifi, for up to 4 devices at a time. You can upgrade for a charge to faster speeds and/or more devices. No resort fee at wyndham.

Here at the Summit right now. Wanted to give you a heads up that we have no internet/wi-fi in our unit at all. They are working on the problem, had intermittent service last year and they also told us they were working on it. You have to come to the lobby to get a connection. Right now I can see about 10 people here using their devices. $25 per day fee is for pools, hot tubs, and games.

Cell service was spotty at Summit also when I had AT&T. We were in the sunset section, kind of over the hill from the lobby.

Just left Sedona Summit this morning. WiFi was shaky all six days we were there. It was necessary to re-connect almost every time a device was used -- phone, tablet, laptop -- didn't matter.

As a side note, the landline phone in the unit didn''t work at all. We called, a lady came over and made sure none of the three phones in the suite was off the hook. She left and we never heard anything about it. (Since resort personnel were the only ones who knew we were there, I didn't pursue the matter further.)

Side note 2: The 2BR units at Summit are beautiful. Only two complaints. The bedrooms are very dark. The ceiling fans should have a lamp. The shower in the master BR has a half-glass, open on the end away from the shower head. Water ended up on the floor.
