Which Marriott hotel in Paris

First time ever I used our Marriott points and it wasn't hard at all :)

Booked two 270,000 packages. First week in London.

I was trying for the Champs for the second week but nothing available. Booked the Renaissance Paris Trocadero. Is this a good choice? Should we switch to something else.

I haven't been to Paris in over 20 years and this is DH's first time.

Thanks!

Hi Jen,
We stayed in the Renaissance Paris Vendome a couple of years ago and loved it. We found it to be centrally located and a beautiful (smaller) hotel. Have fun. Boy am I envious!

We booked Grosvenor Square in London.

Actually hardest part about this whole thing was asking the grandparents if they would watch our kids for 2 weeks :)

DH is really excited as he has never been to Europe before!

Only bad thing is that this trip nearly wiped out my MR points.

This is a new hotel in the marriott system. Was called something else last year. But I sure like its location. The Trocadero is right across the river from the Eiffle Tower (sp).

Thanks Brian for the book links.

Anything we should consider flying over?

Right now we are flying HNL to London and then returning home Paris ( CDG) to HNL.

Questions: Best way to Paris from London.

Any hints on using the Metro systems, etc. We have no such thing here on Oahu so we are clueless when it comes to such transportation :)

I haven't done it yet but think it might be fun to take the Chunnel from London to Paris ... that way you'll see some scenery and have an adventure. Your airline might have an air partner and make the London-Paris part of the flight path with existing point use.

Hi Jen,
You will have a wonderful trip. You may want to look at getting Oyster cards in London. You purchase them at tube stations and they act kind of like a debit card for the subway system. You can save a lot of money using this system and any remaining balance is returned to you at the end of your stay. You simply need to surrender the card and ask for a rebate.

A couple of years ago we took the train from Paris to London. It was surprisingly fast and a great way to see both sides of the channel. If you go with this option, book a first class ticket. You get better seats and better food options.

Have fun planning.

Thanks Susan!

The more I think about the trip the more excited we are. If only I could remember my 7th - 10th grade French classes.

The high speed train going through the chunnel is very efficient. It will drop you off at a main train station in Paris and you can then take a taxi to your hotel or the metro.

It may be cheaper to fly from London to Paris but since the train is one of the super high speed trains and you leave from the city center and go to the city center, you don't have to deal with getting from the airport into the city to your hotel. So when it is all said and done, almost the same time hotel to hotel and almost the same price.

IMHO, Take the train.
