Which of these hotels would you choose (we know they are off-strip and that's ok). They are offered in a nice pkg. deal including flight from our local airport:

Palace Station Hotel
Sunset Station Hotel
South Point Hotel

I believe South Point is the newest of those you listed. Too bad that Red Rock Casino isn't offered in the package as I think that is even better. South Point is several miles south of the MGM Grand, but The M is down that way too. It is an easy drive up to the main part of the strip if you want to venture up there. I think I would choose the South Point, but I haven't stayed at any of them. Perhaps others have and can offer a personal experience. Have fun.

I think the Red Rock is offered at a higher price - can you tell me a little about it?

We just were in Vegas, met my aunt (who lives in Vegas) for lunch at Palace Station. It's "ok," would not be my first choice to stay in Vegas.

Red Rock, however, is a new awesome, swank resort. We stopped by briefly to look at it when we were last in Vegas. It is quite a way from the strip, but is a destination unto itself. Casino, I think movie theater, maybe a bowling alley. Really great pool area. Totally swell. I would love to stay there. Have some photos, will try to post them.

I would go for Red Rock.

Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
I love the South Point. A beautiful pool isn't going to be of any use to you if you're coming this month--too cold! You'd be close to the Strip and to the M, which kind of reminds me of Red Rock as they both are very contemporary looking. You'll also be close to Town Square shopping/dining/entertainment center and to the Premium Outlet Shops.

I've stayed at the South Point on a couple of different occasions via Priceline bids. Very large rooms with comfortable beds and it seemed fairly quiet once you got to your room. I'd stay there again.

Red Rock is nice, but South Point is pretty good. The nice thing about South Point is that is an easy, very fast drive up the interstate to get anywhere on the strip. Red Rock requires driving through a lot of traffic lights and it will take longer. South Point is a new casino and has lots to offer. I think that you will be happy with that choice.

Since off strip is OK, would you consider downtown and the Golden Nugget?

It's often in the packages and is usually as reasonably priced as the off strip hotels + it's 4 stars and very nice and in my view a great location. :)

Of the three you mentioned, I would choose South Point or Sunset Station.

I'm a huge fan of the South Point. Great restaurants and very friendly people. That is been my home the last five trips.

We like the casino and the amenities at South Point, although we did not sleep there. One thing to note is that they have a shuttle from SP to various spots on the strip. It's pretty inexpensive transportation.

We like South Point but couldn't get a room because it was the first day of the National Finals Rodeo so we stayed at Sunset Station. It was very nice but I prefer South Point.
