Looking to add on a beach vacation before Disney. It is me, hubby, DD14 and DD11. We love to swim and do activities. Which one do you think we'd enjoy more?

Thanks!

Depends on what you're looking for.

Beachplace is across the street from the beach but lots of places within walking distance, small rooftop pool. Fort Lauderdale has a "city" feel.

Ocean Pointe has a resort feel, property is large with lots of activities and property is beachfront.

I really like Beachplace - it's a nice urban resort with a small footprint. But with younger kids, I'd recommend Ocean Pointe.

I would concur with JP, with kids I'd take Ocean Pointe although like JP, I really like Beachplace, just got back from twelve days there a few days ago. Ocean Pointe has more of a "family" feel to it while Beachplace is more cosmopolitan. In either case, it looks like the weather may be with you. And while in West Palm try Rocco's Tacos, the one downtown near government center. Great food and so noisy and active that kids fit right in.

Beachplace .. stayed there ... no Ocean Point experience

Have stayed several times at BP on II exchanges ... The pool is small and in the building shadow MOST of the day after 11AM.

Very much a center city element and activity level ... several loud bars and dining in the mall level UNDER BP towers.

Busy 4 lanes of traffic to cross to get to ocean (yes, there is a OVERHEAD walkway ... but not a go directly from BP and drop onto beach .. rather "get out onto the street and steps up (or small elevator), walk across the bridge, take steps down or elevator to sand"....

We have daughters who are 11 and 15. We love Oceana Palms. Have stayed at Ocean Pointe many times and been to Beachplace, but imho, Oceana is the place to go.

no contest, Ocean Pointe.

OP is more open, more beautiful beach and pools, more activities.
BP is smaller, pool is on 4th floor and very small, overlooks ugly rooftops, must cross road to access beach, awful imho.

Ocean Pointe is a "destination" resort where one can stay/play at the resort without needing to leave the resort grounds. Beachplace Towers is an urban resort where there's more going on around the resort than at the resort. At least that's our opinion.

Beachplace Towers has a lot going on around it and has a lot to offer if you're into restaurants, clubbing and ocean based activities. Ocean Pointe has a lot to offer onsite with a larger children's splash pad, three large resort pools in the main complex and a zero entry pool at the Kingfish building ( separated by a private condo building from the main resort), direct access to the beach, miniature golf course, shuffle board, botche ball, Tiki bar and grill with outdoor seating, two large hot tubs et.... and a more extensive activities list.

What Ocean Pointe doesn't have is a very active nightlife within walking distance and, as others will point out, tends to get quite not long after the sun goes down. We go in November and December when there's a decidedly older crowd in residence. We enjoy relaxing and it's better for us than Beachplace Towers. I have no idea what summertime crowds might be like.

I own at BPT so admit to a degree of bios, but I bought there when it first opened and have gone there every year since. I've stayed at both. At BP you don't even need a car as everything is within a short walk or a very cheap shuttle bus...and the airport is a 15 minute taxi. This is a million dollar view of a gret beachfront or intracoastal waterway, right beside condos that sell for millions. Complaints about the traffic and spring breakers are nonsense in my view. A big CVS is right in the complex for food items much cheaper than BP Marketplace. You could walk north to a fancy dinner every night of the week at a Ritz, Hilton, W., Weston, and more...or walk south to cheaper food fare. If you want to have an active time BP is the place.

You are stranded at OP without a car, and like an old folks home everyone is in bed by 8 pm. Only a few of the units have beachfront views. The pools are great for the tons of little kids, but I don't like the beach as much as Ft. Laud.

We own at BP, but like both. For younger children, under 15, I'd recommend ocean point. We also feel BP has a more cosmopolitan feel. And it's nicer to walk around. We mostly travel alone now without DS so it's a great fit for us. Ocean point is set up better for kids IMO.

It's actually fun to do a week at each when we can get 2 weeks consecutively.
