We'll have 7 people between ages 15-75, visiting Branson next year. We don't care for foul language and/or skimpy Vegas-style costumes in shows. We're not big country music fans either. We DO like a variety of music, comedy and dinner shows.

Considering that we'll have three older teenagers in the group, what would be your top recommendation(s) for a show for us all to visit together? TIA!

Skimpy costumes

The closest you'll come to a skimpy costume in Branson is a comedian in a sport coat two sizes small.

In probably over 25 shows I have heard maybe three or four jokes that were a little bit "off color." But in fairness, they would have been shown on network TV. Teenaged ears aren't ever going to be offended.

Don't sweat those concerns at all. In Branson they are not warranted.

Nearly every show will have some country music, but many are very diversified. Some that come to mind are Shoji, the Duttons, Delene (limited shows this year), the Lowe Family, and all the Lost In, Stuck In, . . . . shows about the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Magicians, Yakov, even Frederick and the Dancing Waters.

I must have overlooked a dozen. There probably will be over 130 shows this year.

Don't overlook a day at Silver Dollar City, and the late show in their ampitheater.

Gotta go to pick up granddaughter for a sleepover. Not a well organized response but I wanted to put your concerns to bed ASAP.

Our family always takes in The Legends in Concert. My grandson loved it when he was 3! Fun for all ages.

A Couple of Obvious Ommissions

I forgot two Broadway related shows. It remains to be seen whether the Broadway review at the Americana Theater will return this year. We enjoyed it a couple of years ago.

And there is (at least, was) a Broadway show -- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Don't know if it will be back, either.

The Magnificent 7

Our family of 6 visited Branson this past December (16-23) and we went to only 1 show (outside of the ones at Silver Dollar City.) We didn't find any great discounts for the tickets (I think that we did use a $2 - off coupon for each adult ticket) but we paid the extra $4 or $5 for the dinner before the show.
The show that we saw was called "The Magnificent 7" (we think it's because it always starts at 7 pm) but there were actually about 9 or 10 singers. The youngest, Amanda (?) turned 18 on the day that we saw the show; she's been singing at Branson for 2 years. Awesome voice for someone so young. The other two stars are a husband-and-wife team who also created the show in the first place.
The show lasted two hours - the first hour was a variety of songs, from country to songs from decades past to patriotic, you name it. The second half was a Christmas tribute - I was most impressed when the singers sang in harmony and acapella. There was also a small live band who did a little dancing during some of the Christmas songs (they were Christmas trees!)
All of my family - including 3 female college students - enjoyed the show. We were impressed with the sheer talent of the singers and dancers. We also thought that the meal - we bought the cheaper version (chicken or steak and chicken fingers for the youngest) - was very good and a good value for its cost.
The Magnificent 7 was performing at the White House Theatre this past December.

By the way, there were no skimpy costumes anywhere on this show, and I wouldn't call it "Vegas"-y at all. They had glitter or sequins on their long gowns, but definitely nothing that would make anyone uncomfortable.
No offensive language, either.

you'll love Branson

I can not say enough good things about Branson
We had gone with 2 teens and parents that were in late 70's. It was 5 yrs ago that we went but everyone still talks about that vacation. We booked some shows late March and had seats no further back than 5th row. Call chamber of commerce- they were very helpful. Some shows you can wait till you are there to get tickets butI wanted to be sure we all sat together and had good seats. We were impressed with every show we saw and how low the prices were. Be sure to go to Silver Dollar City- great night show- and take tour of caves below the park. Legends was a wonderful show. Take "Duck Tour". Jim Stafford was a good show(remeber song I don't like spiders and snakes?) Dixie Stampede was enjoyed by parents , Duttons were very good . Kids liked Ripleys Believe it or not. Plenty of go cart tracks for teens. We were there 2 weeks- saw a show just about every night or day and there was not one we did not like. I would go back without a doubt. I'm sure you will all enjoy Branson.

shows for 9-77

We were there this past March. Our group of 10 ranged from ages 9 to 77. We all enjoyed the Legends in Concert and the Duttons.

Goodbye, Joseph!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will not be back. The theater is going more commercial.

We were there in October '05 and a couple of shows that we saw I would highly recommend. The Haygoods, your teenagers will like this as well as you and also the magician at the Welk Theatre, if I remember correctly his name was Darren Romeo. Both were excellent. I have yet to see a bad show and I am not a country music fan either.
