We are trying to meet the Jan 14th deadline for a Marriott hotel week certificate and airfare award, but need to to figure out which airlines to place the points into as soon as possible, Jan 14th is looming.
I have a 6ft 7" husband who needs some room for his legs. SInce we arent business travelers we dont rack up a lot of points and cant get the exit row for him (usually goes to a business freq flier). We turn in our weeks occassionally for MR points too, but that takes awhile to add up. In the past its been helpful to travel American Airlines, buying 2 economy seats and requesting upgrades to business class. We then pay for instance 100,000 miles and $1000 for round trip to europe (on top of the cost for coach seats).
My question is, are there other airlines that will do this other than AA?
Marriott lists airlines where you can put the points/miles if you want to exchange miles for seats, but not all airlines allow you to buy an economy seat and pay for an upgrade with points.
If there is a thread on this, please excuse and point me to it? I've wandered thru Flier Talk but those are REALLY frequent fliers there and they arent in the position of having to do t his. At least my search words arent finding those posts...
Thanks for any info. I'm hoping for alternatives to AA going towards Europe, Asia or SouthAMerica... long flights 10 plus hours long.
