What happen to the old " KISS" theory. It is sad when meteorologist cannot, properly pronounced the name of a tropical storm. IMHO.

A lot of mispronunciations

The World Meteorological Organization should consider good American names for hurricanes - Dave, Steve, Sue ..... ;)

Have we ever had a tropical storm named Isaiah? Would that be pronounced ees-ah-EE-ah?

Actually, given your residence, I think you're confusing it with a Hollywood star trying to pronounce the southern version of Isaias.
They are downright hilarious in their concocted southern dialect. But they don't get out of their bubble much (aka rehab),
so it's not worth trying to coach them. Plus half the fun is just listening to them acting like fools. It's a real kick.
I should be grateful, though, in 3-5 years there won't be any of them left in Hollywood, I'm afraid.

I'm 100 miles from Hollywood and we have Camp Pendleton as a buffer zone.

Of course 2020 would produce a storm with a name no one can pronounce even though it’s a spelled as a commonly pronounced name. I just call the “that dam tropical storm”

It's eerie outside here now. I don't know how to describe it except that It's yellow outside. The rain has stopped the breeze is light but it's strange looking out there.

I guess I can put the oil lamp and flashlights away again till the next one.

Having never experienced one of those things, I'm sure it's a unique experience. Stay safe!

Glynda, I was VERY happy this morning to read this report that the anticipated flooding in downtown (historic district) Charleston
did not come to pass. Hope you had an uneventful night.
And hope to see you soon, if Covid situation abates and allows. Take care

We got over seven inches of rain in about 12 hours just east of Baltimore, MD. Lots of flash flood warnings and there were tornado warnings about every 10 minutes on my phone but no major damage that I know of in MD. Storm raced out of here thankfully so it was nice out by about 2 PM today.

Yeah, and the name is ridiculous...I was thinking maybe it was an Hispanic version of Isaiah but I've probably met over a thousand people with Hispanic names and not one Isaias.

Thanks! It was much ado about nothing for us. I do have the "yellow tree" that hangs over the wall no2 half over and half blew back into the front of the house where it will remain until I get someone here to fix it. I was mainly concerned about being able to get to the hospital, which always is among the first area to flood, to pick up Kim. But you know that didn't happen. Some streets were closed for awhile due to flooding. Broad St around Colonial Lake and Lockwood Blvd. always have to close. Thankfully, we were high and dry as usual. Yes, it would be wonderful if Covid abates and allows!

Frickin storm tore up NY, NJ, CT area. Trees uprooted, power outrages abound.
Yeah. I came home mid day and tbh heard no wind howling or rain, I looked up and the sun was out. Odd

We had a tough day in Southeastern Virginia, especially in Suffolk. VA.
We had several tornadoes to touchdown in the downtown area , plus the hurricane wind & rain. We were without electricity for 14 hours. At one time there were over 300,000 Dominion Engery customers without electricity. My day yesterday was cleaning up falling tree branches & hundreds of pine cones from pine trees. All is well this morning.
