I am trying to purchase tickets for something in Europe and the place requested 2 International Reply Coupons.
I went to my local Post Office and they don't carry them.
I went to a larger Post Office and they said they haven't been using them for over a year now.
A third Post Office said they sometimes have them.
So I don't know if they exist or not, but that's my dilema.
Does anyone know if they are still available, and if so, where can I get them.
If they are not available, do you have any suggestions on how to handle the purchase?
Unfortunately, the place does not have an email address, or at least, won't give it out.
Thanks
Bill

Unless you can get to the main post office in a large city, (e.g., Philadelphia), I would recommend that you take a copy of this page to your local post office, ensure that you talk to the highest level person there and ask that they requisition IRCs for you in accordance with the second main topic (Section 372.2). Unfortunately, that will likely mean a delay in being able to buy your tickets.

Or, if you're really lucky, a helpful TUGger living near a large post office might be able to go in, buy two and then contact you through TUG to get them to you. I would have been happy to do it because I was supposed to be in Boston this week, but back surgery has stopped all my travel for now.

Bill,

Here's some info on International Reply Coupons from the Post Office
They say "The coupons should be stocked at Post Office facilities that have a demand for them."

I would check with the main post office in NYC.

Looks like we were posting at about the same time. Your post beat me to the gun.

Best wishes on your recuperation from back surgery.

Thanks Everyone:

This is some info I found out - and a resolution....

The IRC's now carry an expiration date, so the Post Office's don't want to carry as large an inventory as they use to. One PO said they could order them - but it would take a few weeks, since they place their order monthly.

The PO gave me the website of the Royal Mail in the UK, where I can purchase international airmail stamps, and have them sent to my home (4-5 days), then use these on a self-addressed stamped envelope. They come in sets of 4, and there suggestions was to use 2 stamps on the SASE, which is the equivilent of 2 IRC's (the original request), and use the other 2 to send cards back to the USA when I get there.

Bill,

As you probably know, the IRC's have an expiration of 12/09 and their current price in the US is $2.10.

Re the UK international airmail stamps - don't forget to factor in the pound/dollar exchange rate. It's probably more convenient to do the stamps
but perhaps slightly more expensive than the IRC route, given you could find them or obtain them in time for your needs.
