When will the Marriott in St. Kitts be completed?

I'm looking for another Caribbean Marriott to exchange into with my Aruba ocean club unit so I went on the Marriott website at clicked on St. Kitts. A pop-up window came up and said it was "under construction" but didn't say when construction would be completed.

Can I assume that Marriott owners can already exchange into the "apparently uncompleted" resort since the same web page stated that the pools would be closed for renovation in December?

How much of this resort is actually completed? I don't want to go to a resort with only partial facilities.

Seasons greetings to all,
Dave

St. Kitts has been available for exchange for quite awhile (?? about a year, give or take). Most resorts are built in phases and may undergo construction for several years before being fully built out.

Marriott attempts to minimize disruption during the process. For example, since you own at the OC I assume you noticed that the SC was operational for several years before being completed last year.

Exchanges tend to be easier earlier on before the resort is sold out, due to unsold deposits into II.

Actually, the resort has been complete for some years. The MVCI portion is actually converting some of the hotel buildings to timeshares. So construction is conversion, and was completely transparent when I was there earlier this year. I am not certain about the pool issue, yet they had problems last year with the filters, so they may just be repairing that. Bottom line, construction is not new build, rather internal conversion of units.

Also, there are three pools. One main pool and two smaller pools. So, at worst, the pool near the timeshares might be closed, I am sure that the main pool would be open - a short walk away. And of course there is the beach :)

The resort is fully operational. There are 3 "areas", the center area is the main hotel bldg, pool, restaurants and casinos. These are flanked by 2 side areas with smaller pools and smaller bldgs. We were told one side is privately owned and therefore we were not supposed to use the pool. The other side is where the converted units (TS) are and the bldgs are only 3 units high, no elevators.

We were there in May and we saw the workers but they did not interfere nor make much noise. The work is mostly interior so the noise is probably muffled by the walls.

We loved the resort and Island--our only complaint is the shallow pools, nothing deeper than 3 feet--good luck exchanging--you will really enjoy it.

Are the pools at this resort really only 3 feet high? Or is that just the smaller pool near the timeshares? 3 feet seems a bit shallow for a large pool. We were thinking of trading here in 2010.

The pools are 3 to 3 1/2 feet deep. All of the construction from day one has been renovation of existing beach house units. There was never any new construction. This is a beautiful resort but St. Kitts is not filled with tourist activities. If you like to relax at the pool and beach and gamble in the evenings this is a fantastic spot.
