When were the Manhattan Club cancellations - I am paranoid.

Just been reading and saw reference to RCI cancellations of Manhattan Club exchanges in the summer. Did a search, but could not find the thread. When did this occur? I just confirmed a Manhattan Club exchange for this summer last week.

After my recent Austria cancellation, I am a bit worried.

My memory says that the cancellations had to do with some shenanigans with re-confirmations. I don't think you have much to be concerned about at this point, they've cracked down on that stuff.

Wow, even so, can RCI cancel them. At least in my case, it is not a trading issue problem since I used a summer beach week.

Joyce, your confirmation is safe.

Last year, after a bunch of weeks were confirmed by guides through overrides of trading power, RCI posted the following on the Manhattan Club's Info Page: "Overrides to trading power will be cancelled."

This was to prevent guides who were being conned by members who claimed they "Could see the Manhattan Club online" when they searched or who claimed that they had been "Offered the MC by that other guy" when they "called earlier", from doing overrides to give these members exchanges that their weeks were not strong enough to trade for normally.

In most cases, the members hadn't actually seen or been offered these exchanges, they had heard about them on sighting boards and decided to try their luck.

There were only a small number of actual cancellations, but it was enough to prevent the weeks from being scooped up, thus making them available for people who did have the necessary trading value for them (such as you!)

You'll be OK as long as the place doesn't burn down before you get there!
