When is it too late to deposit your starwood week w/ II?

We currently have our [timeshare] up for rent on ebay. I want to have a strategy to pull the ebay posting and deposit w/ II at some point if it does not sell. (We want to go to Gatlinburg this year and give [our location] a break after several years of going there).

I did try searching the forums to see if this has been answered already. I kept getting fatal errors, so I'm having trouble searching today. I noted the sticky by Denise M about late deposits having the same power as early ones. We have week 28 booked. At what point should I abandon the attempt to sell this on ebay and deposit it in II? May? June? earlier? later?

question 2: I see The Westin Aruba Ocean Villas up on the option chart but not listed as an official starwood resort in the mystarcentral site. Is aruba in the system now or not?

Thanks!

I would not use ebay for rentals - the fees are high, and rental prices are the lowest on ebay. I personally use these cheap or free websites to post my Ads:

TUG Timeshare Marketplace - http://tug2.com/timesharemarketplace/
1 year Membership - $15
Ads - free up to 25

www.craigslist.org (free)

www.redweek.com
Membership - $14.99 for 12 months
Timeshare Rental Ads - $24.99/ea for 6 Months
Timeshare Resale Ads - $59.99/ea for 12 Months

www.myresortnetwork.com
Membership - free
Timeshare Rental Ads - $19.95 ($24.95 - floating weeks)
Timeshare Resale Ads - $34.95

There is also a list of resale websites at the top of the Buying, Selling, Renting, board that you may want to take a look at.

On Craigslist, you need to create a Craigslist Acct., and every 3 days, you can renew your Ads with the click of a button. You don't have to rewrite the Ads - if you create an Acct. they will be saved in your Acct. and you can just use the "renew" function, to renew your Ad every 3 days which will bring it to the top of the listings.

Under the rules implemented in 2009, you can no longer deposit the week you reserved, instead you must use the predetermined trading power that has been designated by Starwood and II. As long as you cancel your Resv. before the check-in date, you have until the last day of the year to deposit a floating week with II. See the II FAQ at the top of the forum for all the details.

They haven't even broken ground - it's on indefinite hold.

Thanks. I was hoping you were there, Denise! What about flipkey on Trip Advisor? 60 day free trial and then $20/month. I was going to try that out
around March.

I'll get going on the other venues....

Is it $20 per month PER Ad, or is it just $20 per month?

I misremembered. it's 34.99/month for one listing. here's the cut/pasted rate schedule:
FlipKey Multiple Listing Discount Details

The more properties you list, the more you save! The table below shows the cost, per listing, depending on the number of properties you plan to list.
Number of Listings Monthly Subscription Cost Per Listing Annual Subscription Cost Per Listing
1 Listing $34.99/month $25.00/month
2 Listings $31.49/month $22.50/month
3 Listings $29.74/month $21.25/month
4 Listings $27.99/month $20.00/month
5 Listings $26.24/month $18.75/month
6 Listings $24.49/month $17.50/month
7 Listings $22.74/month $16.25/month
8 Listings $20.99/month $15.00/month
9 Listings $19.24/month $13.75/month
10+ Listings $17.50/month $12.50/month

I think $34.99 a mo. is WAAAAY to much. That's $209.94 for 6 mos.!

Redweek, which is well-established and has a strong following is only $25 for one Ad for 6 mos!

I don't have good things to say about Flipkey. I kept getting the promtional offers to post my vacation rental so I finally posted one of my weeks which took a bit of work. I waited and waited for it to go live with no feedback. I finally inquired about it and they said that you have to offer multiple weeks. I sent tnem a couple examples i found on their site of people offering the same the same Aruba Surf Club. So it was just a frustrating waste of time. I told them to take me off their marketing list.

Weimaraner that's pretty interesting. I was thinking the exposure that Tripadvisor should give might be worth a month or two but I'm definitely rethinking that now.

Sheraton Broadway Plantation rentals are going really slowly this year, for some reason. Maybe the economy is back. Deposit in II and use it!

I think it's been too warm of a winter, no one is freezing their bums off and looking forward to a warm weather beach vacation.:hysterical:

I know a couple of people who are considering heading to a Carolina beach this summer. I'll talk to them and give you a PM if they are interested. No doubt being here in OH, their first choice is HHI.

Search returns fatal error

Of course! Everyone from OH goes to Hilton Head! That's why the signs all say OHHIO! :) (Even the guy who sings under the trees by the lighthouse makes fun of all the OH license plates in the parking lot. For those of you on the West Coast, Hilton Head is as far south as you can get in 1 day's drive from pretty much anywhere in OH. It's on the south end of SC and Myrtle Beach is at the north end of SC.)

I've never quite got the HHI thing, I've been a few times and :ponder: Of course I feel free to say this on the Starwood board, you take your risks saying HHI is not your favorite place on the Marriott board.

I talked to a resale broker about a Marriott Oceanwatch(MB,SC) unit and when I mentioned I lived in OH, she said but wait don't you really want HHI? I've got a great deal on a plat. unit at Surfwatch.
