When do units come available on II?

I'm looking for Hawaii for this August and I'm a MMC owner. I've noticed that units seem to come available very early in the morning (7:30 EDT). Do deposits show up in the II system the instance someone makes them even if that is the middle of the night? How often should I be checking?

The thing to do to give you the best chance at getting Hawaii is to put in an ongoing request.

Since you are looking for a Hawaii unit for this August, thats within the flexchange period. Go ahead and put in a request but check online frequently. Early in the AM, 5 or 6 CST, Mondays and Tuesdays seem to be the best time, but of course check everyday, multiple times a day. Also check the sighting/distressed section. Hawaii is listed frequently.

Good luck.

Ongoing request is the way to go. If you can be flexible, also think about going on off-peak times such as when schools are in session.

Patterns in spacebanking

After a week of 5 AM mornings looking for a 2 BD in hawaii I think I have discovered some patterns in terms of when units are banked.

There are always a few units that come available throughout the day, I assume that is as they are processed by II.

It seems like the majority of new units are banked very early on Thursday mornings (before 7 AM EST) and maybe Friday AM. Perhaps is the the actual timeshare companies (eg Marriott) that make these deposits?

I'm still looking for a 2BD on Maui at a nice place so I will continue the search for a couple more Wednesdays.

If anyone else has discovered any patterns please let me know. I'm pretty tired of the 5 AM mornings

Marriotts are posted throughout the day. Look often and you'll find units that sit there before the automatic matching routines happen. Don't foget that people are cancelling exchanges all the time also.

I'm a rookie at this and I'm confused. We want to go to Hawaii as I posted in another thread and we just put in a request for next June. Is that not the best way to go about it? Is the OP, leskiw, just going online each day and seeing if something comes up? Should I be doing that also?

An ongoing request for next June is definitely the way to go. I suspect the OP could not put in an ongoing request because it was during the flexchange timeframe (within 59 days of check-in), in which case you would have to just keep looking online. (At least that's my understanding of II rules that you can't put in an ongoing request that close to check-in.)

Having said that, glitches do happen and it doesn't hurt to also look online periodically.

Ah, there is a benefit of getting up at 4:30 am every morning and arriving at work a 6 am -:cheer: I was checking II daily to see if I could use an AC before expiration in mid-August. There is some pretty good stuff that comes up - but typically not much good stuff domestically. I finally grabbed a unit at the Marriott Custom House in Boston for a friend - great deal for $300. Wish I could have gone myself, but don't think my office would be happy after I was gone for a month in June to vacation in Europe.

Jwerking -

A month in Europe in June? Was this an exchange? I need some advice on requesting Europe for next June. I'm hearing this is difficult at best. Our request w/ II (one bdrm Westin Mission HIlls was deposited) is not in yet bc I'm narrowing down w/ my daughter where she wants to go - but she isn't real picky...maybe Austria, Italy, England...and any week in June 09.

I'm thinking she should request what she has the best chance of getting, since she's limited in her requests, right? We've not done an exchange before - but w/ II, don't you get just 3 locations on one date or vise versa? I mean, she'd like to input 15 locations for 3 dates each, but I don't think they allow that?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Yup, I am just going on early in the morning, again many on Thursday and Friday AMs around 7 EST. I have seen Hawaii listings that go out several months but not normally as far an next June, you should definitely put in an "Ongoing Request" or "Pending Request" with II, that's what you need to get Hawaii. The reason I am seeing as much as I am is that I am looking in the Flexchange period (< 60 days) before check-in.

1 BD at Maui Ocean Club

Look on the sightings board for a VERY GOOD 2 BR August Hawaii sighting posted today, 7/31!

All of those early morning finally yielded a good match I got a 1 bedroom at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club with my Marriott Manor Club (MMC). Thanks for those of you looking out for me :whoopie:

Never thought getting up with my preschooler in the middle of the night could have a side benefit!

I am continually amazed at what I've been seeing at 1, 3, 4 am PST -- 2 bedrooms at Disney's old key west, June at Marriot Newport Coast... I have an ongoing search for a couple san diego resorts for April-July, but I feel nervous about the loopholes people mention in II. I'm gonna be a tired mess if I keep looking for the next 3 months like this. Makes me wish I lived back east so I could sleep in a little! :p

SNAvicki, You can request more than 3 locations. Three is the minimum, not the maximum. You can also request several dates or a range of dates. If you are not sure what to do, call II and place the request over the phone.

Back to the OP, congratulations! I always find very early on Monday AM to be a good time to search.
