Assuming your maintenance fees are paid up for next year, is there any restriction on when and how many StarOptions I can borrow to use this year. I am trying to make a reservation at one of our home resorts (Sheration Kaua'i) for Dec 17th. I was told they could not move the options from 2022 to 2021 until 8 months out. That just doesn't sound right. Normally, I would just wait 5 more days, however, the 17th is a Saturday and the offices are closed over the weekend. I am nervous as there are only two 2 bedroom units available.

That is correct.Star Options borrowed from the following year do not have “home resort” benefits. They can only be used at eight months out.

I believe you have to call over the phone to do it. You cannot combine SO for a reservation until 8 months. You don’t get 12-8 month priority if you’re using SO that are banked or borrowed, even if you’re booking your home resort. The banked and borrowed SO are subject to VSN rules and can only be booked as a Vistana Signature reservation, not a home resort reservation.

You can only borrower StarOptions at the time you are making the reservation. You can't borrow ahead of time to later make a reservation. So they were correct that you can only borrow at the 8 month mark.

One thing that might work... If you happen to have any other reservations prior to Dec 17, you might be able to get them to swap in the borrowed SOs to that reservation and free up the SOs from this year to use at midnight ET for your Kauai reservation.
