The only chance that a sale will happen is when the airlines think they might have a lot of empty seats during the summer. That doesn't happen very often. That sale would probably be about two months prior to June. But, if the airlines start selling all the seats and have a limited amount, they will raise the rates for the remaining seats. It is a gamble to wait.
It is supply and demand. Right now, the price is low during the off season and when summer rolls around it will be twice as much, or even more. Just got this email from Airfare Watchdog.
