What's Wyn offering as "gift" for attending "owner update workshops" at resorts?

What's the current going rate on the Wyn gift card for attending their update aka sales pitch? I'm kind of curious to hear how they spin the new VIP status and what they'd say the difference is from the ol VIP levels. So... what's the $ value of their thank you gift these days?

Varyies both by resort and promotion. Sometimes a cash card other times discounts to local attractions etc.

Easy $50

My husband and I were recently at Wyndham Skyline and did an "in-room" 15 minute (they promised) member update. We had been out late at Resorts the night before the update, and were eating breakfast when they arrived. The update lasted only 5 minutes or so, and there were no sales pitches - they literally did a member update. The salesperson actually told us that we got a good deal on our resale points and told us how much the points would have cost had we bought from Wyndham. Honestly, this is the kind of sales pitch that totally works for me, and I am much more inclined to buy something from someone who doesn't push me.

It was a great experience overall, and my husband and I were able to subsidize a nice meal out with our gift card.

I did one of those in-rooms in Waikiki once, after putting them off I finally said ok come to my room for a few minutes. All I got was a "gift bag" with a deck of playing cards, some candy and other junk...alas no $50 gift card tucked into their silly gift bag of cheap tourist trinkets. Good for you making an easy 50 bucks...I may hold my nose and do an update cause I really want to hear how they spin the new VIP branding of silver, gold, plat (to me that's just marketing ploy, cause some folks like shiny new plastic cards with metallic colors).

I avoid it like the plague. My wife... not so good. We never got less than $125 on an Amex Gift card. I think she just says no several times indicating that our time is too valuable and they keep upping the price.

I got a $150 prepaid AmEx card and a $100 Wyndham hotel certificate the last time I did one. That was bringing along some friends to hear a sales pitch, too.

It still wasn't worth it.

They range from $50 (got that in Kauai two weeks ago) to $100 or more (got that several times. Worldmark is usually $75 and they are much more stingy (they actually signed me up and then said it was too soon to do one).

They offered me a $75 gift card at Santa Barbara on March 3. To eliminate all the hassle when I got my parking pass I said ok, ok, ok,.........never went to the "update" and the phone rang everyday, notes on the door etc. They even wanted me to stop by for a going away gift (which I also ignored).
BTW, I did the same thing the first week of Feb.:D

Thanks, everyone. I ended up agreeing to the update cause I really wanted to help out the front desk gal who's been giving me my fave unit and is just generally real nice. I got a $50 gift card (making me a cheap date). Then yesterday morning as I was leaving for the pitch room, I noticed a hanger on my doorknob saying "Class cancelled. Enjoy your gift card!" I decided to share my bounty and bought some Five Guys burgers for staff...and a burger and fries for me. Have 20 bucks left on my gift card...and a good time was had by all.

3 separate consecutive resort weeks

This summer I will be spending 3 consecutive weeks in 3 different Wyndham resorts. :hysterical: Can I get their "gifts" at all three?

Sure you can but why would you want to start three consecutive weeks on such a sour note?

Sure you can if they have a "sales" presence.

But why would you want to ruin a good vacation when the standard advice is to unplug the phone when first there so as to avoid such things.

We got $150 American Express -- but the head honcho was quite rude and intimidating to us. Turns out because we were Worldmark owners we should not have been invited to this meeting.

So the offers are going down. Last year I got $100 or $125 prepaid card (can't remember which) plus the activity discount card. Totally worth an hour to me since we got a lot of value out of the activity card, plus I enjoyed spending the cash.

We just got back from Old Town Alexandria (great resort!). Got $100 in restaurant gift cards (4 @ $25) to attend the update.
