We are leaving Sedona in the morning and wondering if we should go to Palm springs area or Vegas. If we go to Palm springs whats the situation with Restaurants ? What about pool , spa at hotels etc. I don't want to get there and sit in my room. We have done a bunch of hiking in seodna but getting dinner resevation is almost impossible. Lots of people in Sedona this week but not enough dining options with everyone at 50% in dining rooms. Cant get a reservation for the hot tub in the evening and people are booking up all the dinner reservation just in case and then not showing up. We have gotten some very nice dinners by just waiting for the no shows to not show up. Some of the places are starting to ask for CC # when making a reservation to stop the reservation/no show hogs from holding all the tables. If its this bad or worse in palm springs we will have to deal with Vegas .

We were at Desert willow this past weekend. Pool bar and food at pool bar only until 5pm. Coffee was available at the store until about 3 when store closed. Pools open, not spas, grills open, but only half of them. Tennis courts open. it was nice to get a way, cold front had come in so a little cooler than normal. staff was great, rooms were clean, remotes had little baggies on them.

We were recently at WDW (two weeks ago). Our villa was impeccable, fully stocked except for pen/paper, the miscellaneous magazines that IMO are only clutter anyway, napkins (they will bring placemats and an extra roll of paper towels). If you plan to do extensive cooking, bring your own knives because the resort basically provides oversized butter knives that cut nothing. One BBQ per station is open. Masked are required everywhere except if you're swimming - even sitting poolside or walking around the resort. All of the pools are open and you can swim based on whether you put your towel on a "B" or "T" lounger. "T" means you can be in the pool for 30 minutes starting at the top of the house, "B" is bottom of the hour.

The store is open from 8:00 to 3:00 and has a limited selection of pre-packaged foods. The pool bar has a food menu and you have to order food if you want to have a drink.

We were only there for two nights but enjoyed it so much that we're going for 8 nights in a few weeks. with all of the restrictions, we're going to use the All Trails app to find places to hike, binge watch Poldark and The Mandalorian and otherwise just chill. We didn't dine out, but Riverside County had just moved into the purple zone (California's most restrictive COVID category), so only outdoor dining is allowed at restaurants, and bars are closed. Here's the full list of restrictions:

  • Hair salons: open indoors with modifications
  • Retail: open indoors at 25% capacity
  • Malls: open indoors at 25% capacity and food courts closed
  • Nail salons: open indoors with modifications
  • Electrolysis: open indoors with modifications
  • Personal care services (body waxing, etc.): open indoor with modifications
  • Tattooing and piercing: open indoors with modifications
  • Museums, zoos and aquariums: outdoor only
  • Places of worship: outdoor only
  • Movie theaters: outdoor only
  • Hotels: open with modifications
  • Gyms: outdoor only
  • Restaurants: outdoor only
  • Wineries: outdoor only
  • Bars and breweries: closed
  • Family entertainment centers: outdoor only, like mini golf, batting cages and go-kart racing
  • Cardrooms: outdoor only
  • Non-essential offices: remote work only
  • Professional sports: no live audiences
  • Schools: must stay closed
  • Theme parks: must stay closed

We were also there two weeks ago, and critterchick accurately reported most of what I would have reported. It's worth mentioning that they DO enforce mask-wearing at the pools, unless you're actually in the water or actively eating or drinking.

They tell you that they've removed some items from the rooms, but they don't tell you what they've removed, which is a little annoying. We quickly figured out the placemats and napkins were missing (called and they brought placemats and paper towels) but as the time went on, we found a few other things missing and wondered what else we were forgetting. Anyway, it was still very relaxing and enjoyable. Most people were doing a good job with masks, and the staff was great about "reminding" people in a very respectful way that encouraged a cooperative response. Although the resort was pretty full, it didn't seem crowded; chairs at the pools are spaced out for social distancing.

Nearly all the good restaurants have outdoor dining, though it's getting cooler now and it might not be as pleasant in the evenings as it was when we were there. My advice is to bring a few cooking essentials and use the kitchen to its fullest.

Due to Covid, they aren't supplying towels at the pools; they give you pool towels at check-in, and it's up to you to wash them during your stay if they need washing. They give you extra detergent as needed for that purpose.
