I love timesharing and own 2 EOY 2 BR units (not lockoffs). But they never qualify for an AC.

I was trying to explain to my husband about the best "bang for your buck" timeshares, but am not sure I have this straight!

You buy a 2BR lockoff at a hot place that always gets an AC.

You deposit as a 1 BR and studio.

You get ACs for both.

So essentially you get 4 wks vacation out of one timeshare unit.

Is this a realistic scenario for many of you???

Thank you for explaining!

This almost never happens because II will almost never give an AC for a deposit of a studio. ( there may be exceptions like a unit in NYC, but generally II never gives AC for a studio)

Everthing else is true. If you have a 2 bedroom lockoff unit, Deposit it as a 1 bd & studio, you can expect to find that you will often get a AC for the 1 bd deposit. so your single 2 bedroom units gets you 3 weeks in II.

We can get three weeks for our one Marriott Branson Platinum week by locking off our unit and getting an AC. This is a very good deal for us with Marriott preference and relatively low MFs.
Wyndham points in RCI works even more efficiently (though not pulling quite as high quality or as easily in the most prime weeks). One week of points can get up to 5 weeks of exchanges with small points deposits.
If only we could actually use all these weeks.

Sometimes a unit that locksoff as a 1br and a 2br will get 2 ACs.

Sometimes any deposit within certain time frames will get an AC. I can't recall the latest dates.
