I don't know if it would help or not, but I think Alaska has a code sharing agreement with British Airways and American Airlines. Perhaps you could use the credit (if you can't get a refund) on American or BA if you aren't able to use it on Alaska.
Thanks for the suggestions. We may be able to use the credit for Alaska Airlines to fly to Hawaii next year. I'd be more likely to do that than use American or British Airways. What is kind of comical is that the Alaska Airlines website says we can change flights through April 28, 2021. However the Alaska Airlines website isn't open for flights that far out.

I went into the Alaska Airlines website to check what dates the wallet vs a credit would expire. If I cancel and put the funds into my wallet I would have to book something by October 2020. If I get the credit it's good through May 2021.

Our next vacation is currently scheduled for late July to the NC mountains. For us, it will be a driveable distance so that helps improve the odds.

For now, it is a wait and see proposition.

Fat chance. Once they have your $$, they're very reluctant to let it go.
So far, all we've gotten are credits or silence...

Delta Domestic (May) = We cancelled. Credit to be used by 12/31.
Cosmos' Swiss Rail Tour = They cancelled. Credit for use thru 2022.
Still waiting to hear...
HAL Cruise (Boston-Montreal) = Not cancelled yet (Canadian ports closed)
Delta Internat'l (June) - Not cancelled yet. Expect a credit.
Oberammergau "Passion Play" Tour - They'll get back to us.

I find it ironic that they want us to take out cancellation protection, yet they don't seem to have any themselves. You'd think that they could have some insurance against operational disruptions.
.
Delta refunded our ticket. Now we are hoping for a refund from Norwegian, which we booked through Costco Travel. Booking through Costco gives us a better chance, I think.

Her son is the one urging her to come. His theory is, they (he and the new mom) are already there so his mom (my friend) wouldn't be bringing anything to them that they're not already being exposed to.

Wow! Seriously!

When is your cruise again? Norwegian, like Carnival is waiting until the last minute on Monday to decide if they are going to extend their shutdown past April 11th. I am not sure why this is such a hard decision. My wife has a client booked on a late April cruise with Carnival. The client runs a cleaning business and had to layoff her staff and has no income coming in, her husband's hours have been cut and they really need the cash. So they are holding out waiting for Carnival to cancel the cruise. Otherwise, if they cancel now on their own they can only take a future cruise credit. Carnival's current policy is that guests with sailings booked after April 1 can cancel but they need to do so before March 31st and would have to take a future cruise credit.
