After seeing these pictures of Disney China open what will be the entry price for US parks? People will still travel from far and wide.

With reduced capacity, Disney will sell-out regardless.
Price will be immaterial for those who need their Disney fix.

Right but at what price. Was at Disneyland in February and thought why even need a line for "fastpass", just have everyone fast pass for a price. There is a lot of wasted real estate from lines. Or go back to selling rides based on points after an entry price. No matter how it goes a lot of money left on the table.

My guess is that initially ticket prices will remain at current levels. The parks will operate at a loss for a while, then prices will increase to recover the billion dollars Disney has lost on their parks.

yes, Disney has plenty of practice with it's "dynamic pricing" model

Which for many families means taking out a second mortgage.

Makes sense to me...

I expect (at least initially) that the price for park entry will remain the same, but could require an on-site resort stay.

One of my stepsons gave me a $75 Disney GC for Christmas.
I didn't tell him that's virtually nothing in Disney money.
Perhaps I could use it in two years, when we might go back.

I don't know any families that get a second mortgage for Disney tickets but I suppose it could happen

Oh Brett, that's what fascinates me about you. You are simply incorrigible my friend.

I do enjoy your sarcasm as I hope you do mine. Many others though have used that exact term as well, in order to bring to light the ever increasing pricing and desire to make one's family happy at whatever cost. Here are just a few published articles.

"How To Go To Disney World Without Taking Out A Second Mortgage"

"You can take a Disney vacation without needing a second mortgage on your house."

"Let’s be clear, though: You can absolutely have an amazing Disney trip without feeling like you need to take out a second mortgage."

"Rather than selling a kidney or taking out a second mortgage to finance your trip, try staying at one of these Orlando resorts."

"Planning a trip to Aulani, Disney Resort and Spa and wondering how you can avoid cashing in your 401(k)or taking out a second mortgage just to pay for it?"

"And there are tricks and tips to make any first visit or rare visit to Disneyland easier, more enjoyable and more affordable so you don’t need to take out a second mortgage."

I would certainly hope not one person would take out a second mortgage, sell a kidney or cash in their 401(k), but it does bring home the point, wouldn't you say?
I suppose however, it could happen, as you say. :ponder:

The problem is some of these threads, especially from some 'sartorial' people and from certain 24/7 cable news shows

satire, parody and actual news are indistinguishable !

Can we stick to the topic please?

I don’t see Disney raising prices for a while. Especially if they reopen in the same fashion as Shanghai Disney. I picture a gradual reopening for Disney Resort guests only. If they plan on not having parades and the front of castle shows for a while, or even fireworks ( all these things form crowds) they really can’t justify raising their prices. As an annual pass holder, they will be refunding me for all the days they’ve been closed...even though I only had a week planned for last week.

I also envision fast pass only for rides and keeping the other queue closed to prevent side by side waiting.

I’m hoping for some incentives for Disney Vacation Club purchases. We would really like to add on to our Riviera Resort contract...but if they don’t come up with a good offer, I’ll wait for a good resale contract at Riviera or Bay Lake Tower.

I can’t imagine how all the businesses around Disney and Universal will survive. Really sad, and not just for there.

actually I was thinking more along the lines of FOX news - but hey, it's all entertainment isn't it?

Anyway, there is always the vast wasteland of NPR.

Disney will sell out regardless of price increases. They offer a quality product that people are willing to pay for. Especially now when there is a need for the “escapism” they can provide people.

yes, and it's reflected in their stock price, Disney stock is back to where it was this time last year.
They will make up for the lost revenue
