Hi, Everybody: I need your help! I have a 2BR Platinum week reserved for February, 2009. I cannot use it. It's only about 5 months away. I cannot decide where to go or when (see I told you I need help!). Should I call Marriott & change it to another Platinum week if I can get it.....maybe end of April, 2009? Should I "lock off" w/ Marriott & then deposit both lock off & main w/ II? Shd I deposit the full 2BR Feb week w/ II? Is a Feb week more valuable to deposit than an April week? Because I can't make a decision, is there something I can do to buy some time while I figure this out. This is driving me nuts.

Did you purchase direct from Marriott or resale? If direct then I would call your VOA and they will tell you if Marriott can do anything. If you deposite with II then you will have at least 17 months from now to use your week.

Now with II if you deposite a 2bdr then you should get a 2bdr same with the lock off like for like. Can you use 2 weeks? If you split then you would have to.

The other option is renting Marriott themselves might rent it from you direct?

Rent to a friend or even here on TUG?

if you deposit with II you will have 29 months to use it . your week expires 2 yrs from the check-in date . can you go in april ? if so then that is the option I would try .

So, is it 29 months or 17 months? Is it 2 years from the check-in date of the week you deposit? So, in my case it wld be Feb, 2011, right?

You can call a VOA even if you bought resale! Would you like a phone number? PM me if you need one.

If you deposit the week with II you have from now until two years from the date of check in to accept an exchange for the week. Marriott resale owners also have access to a Marriott advisor as the other poster mentioned.

If you are talking about Ocean Pointe, then the late April weeks have substantially weeker demand than mid February according to II.

I do not know how much trade value you would gain by moving your reservation back a couple of months and whether that would be enough to offset the lower demand. I personally would keep the Feb reservation.

Turn your week in for points.

Points never expire and you can convert your points to accommodations when you figure out when and where you want to travel to.

be careful with points

Turn your week in for points.

Points never expire and you can convert your points to accommodations when you figure out when and where you want to travel to.

But you can't use them for a Marriott timeshare reservation.
