What to do with exchange match I can’t use?

A long time ago I had put in a request-first exchange request for Kauai for August 2020. In the meantime, Interval got me an exchange I could use for that week, which I’ve locked into a three-resort mix, and my plans are firm. I don’t want to change anything.

Now SFX has matched my exchange request, to the same resort on Kauai, but for a week that doesn’t line up, even if I wanted to extend my trip.

The question is, what do I do with the SFX week? Can I pass it on to someone? Or just let it go? I have two days to let them know, or it auto cancels. This is the first time SFX has matched a request for me, and I don’t know what options I have. Ideas?

I don't know about SFX, but the obvious is just to let it cancel.

Well yes, that’s what will likely happen. I was more curious if I can tell SFX to offer it to a specific person?

I asked a coworker about that this morning. If he declines, I’ll just tell SFX to pass it on. I’m sure they have waitlist requests for this one.

Since this is the first time SFX has matched a request-first exchange for me, I have nothing invested, but also
don’t know what my options are. I was thinking a Tugger might want the week, but I don’t see a way to transfer it to them without doing the GC thing. I’m not comfortable paying up front like that for a stranger. And I’ll be on Oahu that same week, so I can’t use it myself.

You will have to deposit something to use it. If your friend takes it you can have them issue you a Guest Certificate. I have requested for friends before using one of my weeks. It is easy to do. They can just reimburse you for your MF.

Yes, that is the arrangement he and I have. We're good friends with he and his wife. He's supposed to let me know tomorrow if he wants it. He'd reimburse me for my WorldMark credits deposit, and any other fees. I've done getaways for them before, and there has never been a problem. In fact, they're joining us on the Big Island the day this potential exchange ends, to share our Kona timeshare for a week. So I offered this Kauai week as a "prequel" to our time together on the Big Island. We'll see what he decides.
