I think the prices have raised. My wife has had double knee replacement and used the handicapped service.

Vikingsholm Castle is modeled after Scandinavian style architecture.
Built in 1929 by Ms. Lora Knight, Vikingsholm is open to the public by
tour only. Contact Emerald Bay State Park for information on tour
reservations (530) 525-7277. Please note: Vikingsholm is not
accessible by car. To reach Vikingsholm follow the steep one mile
trail leading from the Vikingsholm parking lot down to Emerald Bay.

* TOUR COST: $3.00 Adults, $2.00 Child (6-12 yrs), 5 yrs & under FREE
o Handicap accessibility available with advanced reservation & prior arrangement

All of the above at lake tahoe. Restaurants and shows at the casinos. Boat rides on the lake. Be sure to go to the "Ponderosa" where they filmed Bonanza. The ranch house is there and a town. Very interesting if you were a Bonanza fan. There are interesting things to see in Reno and Carson City. There are nice restaurants on the lake right next to what used to be called the Embassy Resort. I don't know what they call the resort now. There are some interesting walks, not hikes, in public park land. I used a tour book for reference when my wife and I went and found much useful information. It was either frommers or fodors. They listed some very good out of the way restaurants.

I think "Ponderosa" is history and was closed down and turned into a development a couple of years ago. There is an Embassy Hotel in main part of the town of South Lake Tahoe, the old Embassy Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort is now just the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort.

Are you staying on the north side or the south side? A drive around the lake is nice and your in-laws might enjoy it with a few stops and side trips like Squaw Valley @ Olympic Valley, CA

Squaw Valley/Lake Tahoe Vacations. Visit us on the slopes of Squaw Valley USA - a spectacular year-round vacation destination. Offering thousands of skiable acres in Lake Tahoe and some of the deepest snow in the world, Squaw Valley is a winter playground. Enjoy ice skating and snow tubing at High Camp at the apex of Squaw Valley's Cable Car. Walk or ski to shopping and dining at the Squaw Village. In the summer, enjoy being minutes from Lake Tahoe’s casinos, golf courses, hiking and biking trails, beaches, rafting, and seasonal festivals is a nice trip.
