My uncle was in the first wave on Omaha Beach and was one of only 6 men who survived. He did not speak of it for many years but finally agreed to be interviewed for the Library of Congress. It is an amazing story of resilience for all of these young men.

He was the kindest, funniest and most amazing human being. He passed in 2019.

We went to Normandy two years ago. It far more moving than I expected. I was also touched (and humbled) to see how much the people in that area truly do appreciate the Americans. I was so impressed by our twenty-something tour guide's historical knowledge - and excitement about the history - as she narrated the events and history of that time.
