What the heck is going on with NY?

I'm wanting to book a 6 night trip to NYC to celebrate my birthday. I've been monitoring the properties - looked like plenty available for my desired days (12/8-12/14) until TODAY when I finally get to the booking window and hey it's all gone! Random single days available but nobody has the full 6 nights. I'm so disappointed! I'm totally rethinking my birthday trip (it's my 60th). Please don't roll your eyes at my naivete at thinking I'd be able to book -- I thought about trying to walk a reservation but didn't follow through and that's my mistake.

Do things ever open up again? Or do I chalk this up as a learning experience.

When you make a timeshare reservation, you are competing with every other owner who wants to book the same date? Did you try to book it online exactly when they released the inventory? Sometimes this is midnight. I don't know, but someone on this forum will.

When I read the thread title, I thought of something completely different.

You cannot walk a NYC reservation because they are only 1 night vs. 3 in club. No way to block.

If the window has not opened for club, an owner prob took it. There usually is good avail up to club for owners. Early Dec is high season because people visit to shop and see holiday lights

If you want NYC during high season or want to exchange for larger unit, buy NYC. Otherwise you get the leftovers after owners and low season.

It still seems odd that the block was available until the day before and then the block seems to have disappeared. One would think that folks wanting to stay until 12/13 would have already booked their days, and same with 12/12, etc. Just seems odd that a 6-day block seems to have gone away in one swell foop.

Cheers.

Club season (non-bHC owners) for most NYC resorts doesn't open until October 16, 24. It looks like @CalGalTraveler post has the answer.

It's kinda the same thing with South Florida affiliates.
I saw a week available at midnight ET, but looked away.
When I got back there at 12:03am, it was gone. <sigh>

Perhaps they are HGVC owned units that they made available for owners during home resort window or had not pulled a block yet for Hilton.com. They blocked and listed them on Hilton.com knowing that most hotel stays are not booked until closer to the date or simply forgot.

As said by CalGal, December is high season in NYC. Owners often make short stay reservations at any time. I looked at W57th where I own, and even the commonly available studio+ is not available for that full week.

Owners know when the club reservations start for their resort. They will wait for airline tickets prices to go down, but before the club reservation opens to book their days.

If I as a W57th owner wanted a 6 night stay there for specific days in December, I would have booked as soon as my window opened. Pretty slim chance someone would be able to book 6 days in the club booking window. I’ll forgo the rolley eyes smilie since you asked to not do that.
