Kitchen all done. We love it! Thanks for everyone's help. We bought the new Fridgedaire smudgeproof. They tell us how to set the temp but don't recommend what to use. Factory setting is 0 for freezer and 37 for fridge. Any suggestions on what they should be set on?

0 or below for the freezer but the fridge is more tricky. What it's set at doesn't always reflect the actual temp.

When I get to a timeshare I set it on the high side and work my way down making sure the veggies and fruit don't freeze. 37 will work if it's consistent throughout the fridge.

I have a GE Cafe and it has several drawers each has its default settings depending on what you select to be in the compartment. When you select meat, it shows meat, 32 degrees, Cheese, 40 degrees etc. I find that meat spoils quickly at 37 degrees but with individual compartments, meat stays fresh for much longer at 32 degrees F.

I have a GE Cafe and it has several drawers each has its default settings depending on what you select to be in the compartment. When you select meat, it shows meat, 32 degrees C, Cheese, 40 degrees etc. I find that meat spoils quickly at 37 degrees but with individual compartments, meat stays fresh for much longer at 32 degrees C.

You really mean 32 F don't you? 32 C would be over 100F. No wonder meat would spoil. A few degrees warmer and it would be cooked. (I'm kidding you here. I know you meant Fahrenheit)

OK, Joyce, you might consider checking those default settings with a calibrated thermometer. ( do that by putting your instant read thermometer into a glass of ice water. That will ALWAYS be exactly 32 F.) Then test various compartments' temps. You will want your crisper drawer at just above freezing. And your meat/cheese drawer about 40, and the freezer at or below zero.

The point here is to test the built-in thermostat against a known thermometer.
